Yeah that is fair - I suppose my point is why the nosedive, A bunch of dreadful coaches back to back, very poor sporting infastructure at the club & a general lack of desire to improve as individuals and a club.
Apt quote here - Sometimes it's the barrel that's rotten, not the Apples.
If you listen to that Sullivan interview I think it gives a lot of answers to be fair mate.
Theyve bought a lot of players at their absolute peak. Buying at the top of the market. They are only going one way after that. Some like Lanzini have been unlucky with injuries.
Injuries have been awful, but I'm a firm believer you make your own luck here to a point. Obviously not in terms of a leg breaker on the pitch, but cutting corners and medical budgets, not investing in excellence (behind the scenes) is starting to catch up with them.
I really hope Netflix / Amazon announce "C'mon you Irons" for this season, it will be a car crash
Sullivan is by far the worst chairman in the premier league and when the going gets tough he is always quick to throw managers under the bus.
In the interview he said that the players Moyes wants are to expensive to capture and said there is players he has suggested but who Moyes doesn't want and so he always backs the managers decision cos "That's the way we do it here."
He then said that doesn't doesn't get involved in transfers but that (can't remember which players) he himself bought and forced onto the manager="All the players managers buy are shi7, I know better."
Sullivan is saying all this now in case of failure and is sneakily blaming Moyes when in fact it's himself who's to blame for the whole of the mess the club is now in.
Also, he tricked the fans into believing that the move would be good but so far the only winners out of it have been the owners.
The thing is, the manager and players can see exactly what he is doing as he does it with no subtlelty. I mean when he said he only wanted to sign Diop and Fabianski, how does he think that makes the rest of the squad feel?
I here that Levy won't deal with him, and frankly you can see why.
West Ham have always had a decent youth setup.
Aside from Rice, Diangana (wba) and Ngakia (watford) they dont seem to have had anyone come through for a while.
All the clubs struggling financially will be open to raids on their youth sides. Thus destroying their future.
Surprised its not happened across the board
West Ham has quite a production line in the late 90s: Michael Carroll, Joe Cole, Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard, Jermaine Defoe, Glenn Johnson. Think even John Terry was there at some point.
Probably up there with Southampton in recent decades.
What ever happened to Reece Oxford? Wasn’t he meant to be some 16 year old wonder boy?
