2024/25 David Moyes

I don’t agree with Davek on Moyes. I was a fan to the bitter end last time and am happy he is here now. IMWT etc.

That press conference though was doing exactly what Davek has been saying. Lowering the bar with the hope of exceeding it. Can’t get the players, no money, defending might get us enough points, go with what we’ve got, maybe the summer, maybe not …

First time I have seen it so clearly

Have you been living under a rock. Everyone and there dog knew we still had PSR issues. Moyes said hopefully we get a few new players which I truly believe they have been trying to do. It’s not an easy window at all, but if you believed we were going to be throwing 30,40,50m bids around then the joke was always on you.

I just watched the press conference and he seemed quite chipper. In relation to transfers, he just said that he wanted to tell Everton supporters that they will bring in some players, they are trying, but he is jealous of some of the big money transfers happening as due to PSR we can't afford players that are that expensive. Seem's quite logical to me. We have financial restraints, we will be bringing in players, but they aren't going to be those that require a big initial financial outlay. I don't think that was anything any of us weren't expecting tbh. Just very honest and straightforward.

Exactly. Some of our fans just love to make something out of nothing.

Yes but that is not what I am saying. I am saying Moyes was consciously reducing expectations

I suppose the only point where he possibly seemed a bit glum/dour was when he said he was surprised by the level of our financial constraints via PSR, and it explained our recent challenges as a club. When asked about if we'd have to therefore take a gamble on players for a short term solution, he basically said yes, he believed we need to spend every thing we can within the constraints to bring players in. Which I, as a supporter, appreciate.

Not buying that.
He’ll have been as surprised by that, as he is by what’s hanging between his legs when he wakes up in the morning.
If any one thinks he’s come back without knowing the financial state of the club I’ve got a bridge to sell them.
Its page one of the Moyes manifesto on managing expectations.
