2024/25 David Moyes

Not buying that.
He’ll have been as surprised by that, as he is by what’s hanging between his legs when he wakes up in the morning.
If any one thinks he’s come back without knowing the financial state of the club I’ve got a bridge to sell them.
Its page one of the Moyes manifesto on managing expectations.
Looking back, it may have been more of a dig at how restrictive PSR is on a club that went berserk many years ago, but since has been leaner than any other club in the country, and STILL have to move pieces around just buy someone no better than what we have. And by the look of it, sell youth players the minute they are able to train again after injury.

Moyes knows better than anyone how to make the most of cash available when there isn’t much; but even he is probably surprised at the mathematical gymnastics required to work out whether 5 months amortisation of a 5 year contract, plus salary, will mean to buy a striker means we can’t pay for the TV tokens in McNeil’s hospital room. More messy than just “you have £30m to spend” and every area of the club affects it.

He's made it clear in prior press conferences he was aware of our PSR issues, but the actual extent is no doubt unclear until one walks into the walls of the building as manager. Indeed, externally, there has been decidedly mixed messages in the media about how free we are of PSR constraints after being given the all clear recently, so It's reasonable to believe things have become clearer to both himself and TFG as they've worked through the books and their calculations. Who knows what representations they made to him prior to him accepting the gig. To me all it sounds like he is saying we will have more money in the summer, and he needs to be prudent, as we don't have the big balances of some of the other clubs when it comes to signings.

I don't know why there is so much hand wringing and bet wetting over what seems like very reasonable observations, once the state of our books and the nature of the premier league constraints become clearer. God knows how some of the people on here get through the day to day challenges of life if that is enough to send them spiralling into despair.

Might be because its the Moyes groundhog day again.
We’re 3-4 pressers away from him rolling out ‘knife to a gunfight’ at this rate.

I wouldn't want it.

The Texaco Cup of European football.
You should really want any and every trophy Dave. I was fortunate enough to see us lift the FA cup and League in the 60’s, saw the glory years of the 80’s and saw us lift the cup in the 90’s. But any Evertonian 35 years or younger have never seen us win anything. I would want them to see us lift a genuine trophy regardless of its prestige.
