2024/25 David Moyes

Best to be out of the cup anyway as it’s a ‘dangerous distraction’ when in a relegation battle like we were in.

So his two defeats are his first game when he had been in charge for a matter of hours, and a cup game that we were probably best off being out of to focus on the league considering the relegation danger once Leicester hire Dyche.
What, like one of these?

Post in thread 'Why is Sean Dyche and people at the club constantly talking about our fans?' https://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/...y-talking-about-our-fans.120280/post-11510120

we were a bit tactically naive today

we thought 2-0 up after 70 mins it was going to be our day and it looked like plain sailing

everyone knows how dangerous garnacho is, he is quick, direct, likes to cut in, likes to draw fouls, likes to shoot at every opportunity he can. I knew as soon as he came on, man utd would pose a completely different problem.

was it last season that he on his own drew two penalties against us from fouls?

of course he was the one fouled that led to their first goal.

there should have been a plan made for garnacho specifically when he came on, whether that is to play deeper or bring on tim to solidify that midfield

young v garnacho was just a disaster waiting to happen and O'brien is not a natural full back

that right side needed better support and there needed to be a plan to stop garnacho cutting inside so often

They haven't literally said that, no. But the view is that this has been smooth running so far. I say there's signs in there that we've been hopeless on occasion (Villa, Bourenmouth, 2nd half today) and we've been hanging on in some games (Spurs) and hanging on and playing hardly any football (Brighton).

We've been impressive in the derby and against Leicester.

Not your best work this one mate… not many bites.

Regroup and try again.

The players were out on their feet and we don’t have the depth of squad currently to make changes to give fresh impetus.

Think he made mistakes in the second half but the tactical plan from the start was excellent and with a bit more quality, stamina and better refereeing we would have seen that game out and got all 3 points.

Unfortunately we will see this at times due to the squad we have. Dyche made it look like one of the worst in the league and near Championship level which it isn't but it's still not top half standard and due to that there will be games that we see it becoming apparent in spite of how well the manager sets them up and tries to get the win. Injuries and not having enough fresh legs doesn't help either. Especially missing Ndiaye who would have slaughtered them.

Still far and beyond Dyche though.

Hopefully learnt that Doucs can’t do more than 60/65 mins. Just seems to switch off after that

yep his two fouls cost us in the end after a great first hour

thats kind of all he has now, and its an hour of high intensity that i don’t think he gets enough credit for (he is still technically atrocious) but it is all he has in his legs. alcaraz or tim should have been on earlier
