2024/25 David Moyes

I love Moyes but I really want to see him focus on the plan for next season now.
We have a great opportunity to see if:

Jake can play at CB
Alcaraz can be effective in the 10
Chermiti can be useful
Tim can be relied on in CM

So it would be very frustrating to see Keane, Broja, Dom or Doucs starting any more matches.
It's as if he'd never managed here before,we should now by now.

Much as we are happy with Moyes contribution this season it should be noted that Moyes has a 33% win rate since coming back.
Compared to 55% achieved by Pereira at Wolves. I am not saying we should get rid just that under new owners it is no forgone conclusion that they see Moyes as the future

Im not poo pooing pereria but the 5 games they've just won.
Southampton
Ipswich
West ham
Spurs
Man united.

Bar leicester you'd prob cherry pick everyone of those fixtures. Thats 5 of the bottom 7. In comparison we've just played the current top 4 consecutively

Yes, somebody who has not watched one minute of the games since he has come back, or maybe only watched the second halves against the 2 Manchester clubs, may see that stat and think that he is failing, compared to Wolves. Maybe they did not look at the league before he came in, compared to now?

Nothing is a foregone conclusion in football but he has easily done enough to say that next season he will be Everton manager and that there should be no doubt in the mind of the owners that this will be the case.

When we are talking about future, obviously he is not an up and coming manager so 2/3/4 years down the line they will hopefully be formulating the plan for the switch over to somebody else to improve us more than Moyes has hopefully done, at that time.

Difference is wolves actually have some good forwards that have been available in Larson and Cunha who would both walk into our team.

Whereas for most of Moyes time here we have had Harrison, lindstrom, Doucs and Beto as our forward line.

We had a poor defensive manager, combined with poor offensive players. We only changed the first part of that (the manager) so improved to a certain point. That will improve further when Moyes is able to bring in better offensive players.

Wolves replaced their poor manager but already had the decent offensive players so were in a better starting position to score more goals while also backing the manager with money to improve the defence and midfield which was their issues.

Moyes at west ham
2019. Came in when 17th. 1 point above relegation.
2020/21. Finished 6th. Europa league.
2021/22 finished 7th. Europa league
2022/23 won European trophy.

You're a tough audience lol

Brighton are Europes highest net spenders this season and are nowhere near CL. Chelsea are 800m in the hole and not been in it for 3 years.
If only football was that simple.

Moyes is an ideal manager for mid-table teams, a bit like Rodgers or so on.

Cannot remember many managers that brought a long-time relegation fighter constantly into the top 8.

Howe, Emery in the last few years? Spent a bit, but not astronomically invested/performance-wise.

Moyes in his first spell here.

I thought it was a bit harsh. He took over a team floating above relegation. Kept them up and got Europe for next 3 years running, won them their first trophy in 40 odd years and he's getting dug out for not getting them Champions league.
its West Ham. Not Inter Milan.

They didnt see him as the future when they hired him. Hes the stability for the next 1-2 years, even he has been clear about not being the future.

Salient point. He will certainly have to do better than that after money has been spent. He will have to deliver improvement.

If you spent 500m on a club would you put someone in charge for a couple of years to steady the ship.
Not saying it's not the right thing to do it's just the new owners may not be prepared to wait that long
I am not anti Moyes just putting it out there

But finishing higher up the table by playing the best team available means there is more money to spend to rebuild the squad.

It’s a different plan to yours but doesn’t mean his plan isn’t focused on next season.

We need about 8 players (some think more than that), and we are in a scrap with 5 clubs for 13th or 17th. There’s around £12m difference at play for being the best of that 5 compared to the bottom. That pays for Alcaraz for example.
