2024/25 David Moyes

For all those who don’t want Moyes or think 2.5 years is too long then I think a bit of realism about our situation needs to take place.

In the summer we will move to a new stadium, have the majority of our players leaving for various reasons and our DoF (the supposed football expert) is out of contract too.

They can only do so much at any one time and to have a man at the top who has experience of PL, experience of Everton and experience of building squads and scouting based on value for money is a no brainer for me.

Let Moyes build it and in 2.5 years we could have re-laid the foundations of a good team again that Moshiri picked apart piece by piece over his tenure.

Moyes does all of the above while giving us the same grit and edge that was Dyche’s supposed strength

Well. So much for all the "only til the end of the season lahs!" I knew it. It's a lazy appointment. It's out of touch just like Benitez and Gravy train with his Kopite clown. Good luck to the manager and the squad. I hate it. But oh well. Get the job done

They could do a sort of
They're struggling to come up with new questions for it I heard.

You can't really talk to Moyes about the size of the club, the history of the club, he'll just flick them on the ear like "it's me you doughnut"
They could do a sort of "so David what are your first impressions" then do a funky rewind edit and show his first interview.

Under Irvine, as his assistant - DM played some great football got us into the top 4 - only played players out of position was the main moan - Not ten men behind the ball - he also had a great record v City away back then - I am sure in January he will offload & get bargain players in who are not 30 plus in age ... he fetched Vaughn in Cheebs in - he developed youth players - Dyche just let them go or loaned them out to get kicked to bits in the lower leagues ..... & paled a dads army team ....
we got top 4 playing some absolute dross. No denying it was a fantastic achievement but the following season was horrific. We played the best football when Fellaini joined and at the start of his final season before he reverted back to type as the season went on.

Thought he was generally poor at bringing through young players as well as he was always risk averse.

He’s going to struggle to get a tune out of this lot and he has no Rooney coming through the youth team this time.

2.5 years is still sticking in my throat a bit.

I'll absolutely accept that he's probably a sensible appointment in the short term as we are in a worse predicament than I expected us to be in this season and we do need someone to steady the ship. Easy to forget, but that's actually the same situation Moyes came in here on 20 odd years ago.

There's maybe an argument that he's a relatively safe pair of hands to rebuild a bit as well, but I was really hoping for something a bit more progressive this summer.

Still, have seen some suggestions that summer 26 rather than this summer is the one where the purse strings can be opened a bit more, so maybe that factors into the Moyes appointment as well.

He makes sense, I admit that somewhat begrudgingly. The main thing I think I have against it now is that it's an appointment which divides the fan base and we could do with some unity.
I dont think there is any manager who we could realistically attract this month, who would be supported by the entire fanbase.

But it's all about results. If Moyes can improve the results, people will be happy.

Genuinely, how many years do you think this club is away from the upper mid/Euro days though? Your unhappiness with this appointment suggests you think it should be by 2027.
Many seasons away .
But Moyes is a detour away from that progression.
We will have retrace our steps to recover the path to success , so he represents more lost time .
But maybe financially we are planning to secure the ‘magnificent seven’ position for perpetuity.
Less financial risk and satisfying dividends.

Some tereible bed wetring going on here.

People making out like moyes has been doing nothing but relegating teams and running clubs into the ground.

Even though hes just kept a club up from going down consistently got them into Europe and won a European cup and people want some no mark Ipswich manager whos going to get relegated this season.

If he was called el moyezino and was from the swidish 3rd division with so all Experience you'd all be creaming your kecks...bloody virgins. Some of you deserve relegation :p

Villa did it in a season, Newcastle did it in a season, forest did it in a season, west ham did it in a season hell even Leicester did it in a season.

All of them went from battling relegation one season to eurooe in the next. This leauge isnt good and a decent team can do well in it

The flip side is that if he struggles somewhat , there is a lot of pent up acrimony awaiting release.
He seriously eroded any residual goodwill by the manner of his departure and subsequent actions and comments.
Familiarity breeds contempt.
