2024/25 David Moyes

Let’s just be happy with today rather than getting ahead of ourselves - again - and declaring that we’ve turned a corner. It’s a start and things seem a little more positive but beating this spurs side at home probably isnt enough to prove decisively that we’ve made huge strides.
It's a great result given what's happened about us this weekend...and hopefully Chelsea do Wolves too.

But this is just starting.

We need our sleeves rolled up for a fight and some players coming in to avoid relegation still.

Ilm delighted we won.

All true.

People are determined to welcome David Moyes back - and I get that. He did a good job the first time around. But too many forget his fatal flaws - which will eventually hole us under the bough when we are properly competitive again. At 3-0 today, Davey installed his patented glass ceiling. His instinct is not to gamble or to put the foot on the throat of the opposition - it's to go back into his shell, assume the position, and declare "what we have, we hold." Ironically, ceding the initiative is precisely what got us into a needless tight corner there at the end.

Still, I have no illusions with Davey. He is not the future for a truly upwardly-mobile progressive club. But he can do enough to keep us up. I'll take the win with my eyes wide open. It's those thinking it portends seriously better days ahead who will end us disillusioned...
To be fair to him, he gave the players like 25 minutes in second half to try to extend it before making any changes. (And they should have been further ahead).

Remember the game vs Bournemouth, Dyche made no subs until it was too late when players were clearly exhausted rather than change to see out the game. At 70 mins, Spurs have nothing left to lose so I don’t blame Moyes for trying to ensure we didn’t throw it away. All it takes is 1 goal and the whole game flips.

I do think the decision to bring Keane on was poor though.

If we play like that we won’t be in a fight come March!

Vault me on this even if we sign nobody in January this squad now should be about 11th-13th now we have someone with half a clue

Next 4 games are a bit hit and miss.

At least a point vs Brighton away would be nice but will be a tough game.
Must win Leicester at home.
Liverpool at home is a bit of a free hit, nothing really expected.
Minimum a point away at palace.

Whoa!!!

Why? We dont make a habit of losing too many at home to that lot.

1 loss in the last 7 Goodison derbies...

Proper weird feeling to have watched us absolutely destroy a team playing the football that Goodison loves… Speed, power, effort and direct.

Yes we let them back into it and had to hold on but we were absolutely fantastic to a man for 70 minutes.

Doesn’t half make a difference walking out the ground having seen a quality display than shuffling out after being served up a drab Dyche display.
