2024/25 David Moyes

People convinced themselves that City were finished before the game and are fuming we didnt beat them.

As you say, even a poor City, which yesterday was, is still 10 levels above us, we had some half chances, but they played in first gear and finally got the goals their probing justified, we were, as you say, 2nd best all over the pitch and came away with a deserved zero points.

Despite their poor season, these are still 1 of the very best teams in Europe and its no shame to lose as we did yesterday, we competed, with what we had, but we took a banana to a gun fight.

You're having a laugh. They got KO at the round of 32 stage of the CL, just about managing to get through the early stage of this year's tournament.

They've lost 9 times this season in the PL - only 2 less than Everton!

"Ten levels above us" though....FFS.

It will be a must for him next season to start to rectify his away record at the Sky 6. At least break the duck somewhere.

Wolves have beaten Utd today which is still impressive even though not quite the headline it would have been in recent seasons. And we buckled against them at home. It wasn't yesterday that was most disappointing for me, it was that game.

All that said, I think he has done a great job with what he inherited. I'm very glad we didn't get sucked into another scrap and that things were as comfortable as they were.

I'll admit to being concerned about his limitations but let's first see what sort of squad is available to him at the end of August.

He doesnt have to wait either to get that win. Whilst a single game is random, Chelsea are far from being all that. Even as we are, we have to go there and try for the win, we might not get it, but the day will never arrive when the circumstances are perfect. I'd like him to be a little less "safe" in that respect now that we are safe.

Thank you Mr Moyes. A job very well done. Now the real test starts next season. If the owners back him well in the transfer market then I will be expecting a much better season next term. The funny thing is that all of the naysayers need not worry. If he is doing a bad job in any way TFG will change him. They’ve already proven that at Roma. Everton will now be a club with certain standards. If they’re not met, you’re out of the door. I’m excited to see what next season brings, feels very much like a new beginning. Best of luck gaffer.

It'll all end in tears this second managerial spell.

People were weary of Moyes toward the end last time around but accepted his limitations by pointing to the lack of financial backing and the firesafe forced on him by Kenwright.

This time around with a bit to spend at least, and us in that new stadium and hopes raised for better days, not even Moyes will be able to manage expectations.

I get the impression a lot of people who've credited him on his time here so far are now slowly beginning to say: "Oh, yeah. Now I remember what the problem was first time around".

He'll have driven this fanbase round the twist in 12 months.

I think he really needs to start his planning for next season and see what he has squad wise, stop using players who won't be here Broja Young Coleman Keane.

Need to really see where he is at regarding Chermiti Harrison Doucoure

I think we all know relegation isn't a worry now. Apart from the extra prize money it doesn't matter how far above 18th we finish. The important thing is for Davy to do an in-game stock check before seeing who's worth keeping and who isn't. I should hope he now realizes that Keane, Harrison, Broja, Doucoure and, possibly, Alcaraz shouldn't be here next season.
with PSR it's importangt to win as high as possible for more prize money

we also want to go into next season with momentum and on a high

i also want us to keep our nest players, so finishing ahead of the likes of united and spurs helps in that regarf

The quality of the league is as poor as I've seen it, yet we have a strong Newcastle and Villa and you'd just have to expect improvement from Utd and Spurs, with the latter maybe under new mangement.

Very hard to set a minimum bar as this stage, I'd be looking at a points target rather than final placing.

What we can ask for is progression - no threat of relegation and some base for development. That would be ok. It's probably harder for him considering the season Forest have had and the improvement Villa made under Emery. I don't think Forest are sustainable at all and Villa spent a lot but spent well.

I think it would be extraordinary for us to make Europe next season. It isn't impossible by any means but I don't see it.

55 points I'd take now.

Given the obvious gap between the quality of our individual players and theirs, I can only assume he thinks it’s down to the manager that we’re now so close to them in quality.
Both sides were without their 2 number 9s, who are both considered the best in the league.

And KDB or Doucs at 10? there arent many clubs who would take that ginger fella.

The league isn’t poor. Albeit the ‘big 6’ are all a bit in transition.

Villa are 7th and they are a really good side. People forget that utter dross from Bolton, Wimbledon and Ipswich have finished top 6 in the Prem. It’s been way poorer, lots of times.
