2024/25 David Moyes

The league isn’t poor. Albeit the ‘big 6’ are all a bit in transition.

Villa are 7th and they are a really good side. People forget that utter dross from Bolton, Wimbledon and Ipswich have finished top 6 in the Prem. It’s been way poorer, lots of times.

If anything its evening itself up due to more clubs having money to spend. You wouldnt have seen Bournemouth spending £40m on a striker a few years ago.
You've got to be on your toes in this league now or there is a danger you'll struggle.

Look how much the promoted sides struggle.

There’s a whole lot of very good sides, I think just the ‘elite’ sides aren’t quite as good as they used to be maybe.

To get into the top half is a real ask with how many good teams are in the league now though.

Yep. For some reason, because Man City aren’t 400 points clear, people think the league is poor.

I think it’s rarely if ever been this tough.

Look how much our fans are clinging onto Ndiaye (who I like as well) when realistically he doesn’t really get into many teams above us and they’ve arguably all got a couple who are on the same level.

Crazily competitive league, stacked with talent.

You have to be impressed with his contribution since coming back i am not saying we should get rid in the summer but I wouldn't be heart broken if we look elsewhere.
Next week at Chelsea will tell us a
lot about his mindset, if he was to go there with a positive attitude we should be able to win as they are a poor side .
My worry is he will revert to type and just take his knife.

…..most managers prefer to make one change rather than two. JOB was playing very well at RB City offer threat on the flanks so rather than move him, Moyes went with a straight replacement. Not sure when he last watched Keane play.

I wouldn’t have done it myself, but I fully understand why Moyes did it. He alluded to it himself in his post-match interview. He made changes at Forest that probably won us that game, we might have lost anyway if JOB moved to CB.

Maybe it’s not Moyes who has half a brain cell.
Moyes has done a job. He inherited these players, but that doesn't mean he should be immune from criticism. We know Keanes crap, playing him against Man City is ridiculous and cost us the game.

Has done a great job since he came in, just see the season out now with us playing well and a few more wins also. Give Moyes a decent budget to rebuild some of the squad in the summer.

The quality of the league is as poor as I've seen it, yet we have a strong Newcastle and Villa and you'd just have to expect improvement from Utd and Spurs, with the latter maybe under new mangement.

Very hard to set a minimum bar as this stage, I'd be looking at a points target rather than final placing.

What we can ask for is progression - no threat of relegation and some base for development. That would be ok. It's probably harder for him considering the season Forest have had and the improvement Villa made under Emery. I don't think Forest are sustainable at all and Villa spent a lot but spent well.

I think it would be extraordinary for us to make Europe next season. It isn't impossible by any means but I don't see it.

55 points I'd take now.
I'll say this: that new stadium is going to make life hard for any manager who just has us surviving or even at mid-table.

The expectations are going to go through the roof, and if we aren't playing in Europe manager's can expect a tough time.

That facility is going to shake things up at this club.

You say they are poor. They are sitting in a Champions league spot right now. They are inconsistent for a club thats spent a lot but are we at stage right now saying we should win at Chelsea? I dont think we are mate tbh. We're competing a lot more but we're still very much a workman like side with little quality up front.
Plus tarkowski will be a big miss for the rest of the games.

I agree. But there's a Keane blind spot where you think he looks the part, see how many Premier league games he's played and England caps he has, where I can imagine a manager thinking he'll be fine. Having had the lesson though I'll be fuming if Moyes picks him on Saturday.

No one expects us to turn into Real Madrid overnight, the majority ( not you with your various anti Moyes agendas ) expect stability and gradual improvement, with signs of progression.

You`ve gone too early, too soon, with your " the fans will be expecting Europe next season or the manager will be in trouble ".

Your`re losing your touch.

Must try harder.
