Well Joe, the Everton Fan's Alliance Group can confirm that we were never actually in for the footballer David Weir but rather the Paralympian. The Athletic did approach us for comment but, as you say, they're not very well known so we turned them down.

I don't wish to point fingers Joe, but @Bungle interjected into our initial Zoom meeting just at the moment we were discussing Weir with Jenny Seagrove and I wonder if in his anger at being booted out he put two and two together and made 5.

Also newsnow is an aggregator that brings articles from everywhere, regardless of how reliable the source. Indeed, it actually aggregates LESS of the reliable sources, because not all those are linked into newsnow. Unreliable sources allow their content onto newsnow because all they care about is clicks.

The rational answer lies in the timing. It was mentioned that this was known to be in the offing some time back, these things don’t happen overnight, so you’d assume it was started under Brands. Then you takes your pick. With Brands gone the scene changes. So either Weir didn’t want to come under a different regime from when he was approached or the different regime now didn’t want him .
