Just had a memory then of his debut, think he came on as a sub on a midweek night game against Middlesbrough I think, would welcome his appointment, highly regarded apparently.
Wouldn't expect anything less.

Ashworth was the Technical Director at Brighton, so thats their DOF role. As far as I can see Weir was promoted to Assistant Techincal Director earlier in 2022, then when Ashworth left for Newcastle later in 2022 Weir became the Technical Director, in the same role as Ashworth.

I have no idea what his role is at Brighton, what it would be at Everton if he came. I have no idea on his abilities on any role within a football club.
So, in conclusion, I have no idea.
In all seriousness I do have an opinion on the former players coming in. I think there is a balance to be had, we probably fall just the wrong side of it, in terms of too many, but there is a place for former players that did well here and know the place. Enthusiasm and passion can be extremely positive, especially at youth level. There obviously has to be a high skill level, dependent on the role, but there is definitely a place for former players, in my opinion.

'Apologists', Jesus Christ you are dramatic at times.
I always liked Weir, stayed too long and tarnished his reputation a bit with some performances that ranged from bad to truly dreadful but, for me, will always be considered as a very good defender for us. Never shirked responsibility and respected what the fans have always demanded. Effort and workrate.
