Davide Ancelotti

This is absurd

I remember Simon Jordan saying something about Ancelotti’s intentions for coming to Everton maybe not being quite right, something to do with his son

Maybe he’d seen EFC as a club where he could give his son more responsibility

Perhaps this is a legacy from that whole idea and Moshiri’s connection with them

Most if not all of DA’s experience looks to have been linked to his Dad though, which is strange - surely he can’t be a serious candidate

Is it too outlandish to suggest that the club have offered Davide a 6 month contract with the possibility to extend if we stay up (so we can get Bielsa in the summer)? Dyche wouldn't be stupid enough to bench warm for Bielsa but Davide might look at it as a win win - premier league managerial experience, in a almost completely condemned club, he always has the 'worst run club' excuse to fall back on too

I actually don’t mind. We will end up with 2 managers, I fancy David putting on an earpiece with Carlo doing a Skype call from Spain with live instructions during match day.

What I find hilarious is some folks wanting a manager with experience but dismissing the idea of Bielsa and Dyche and jumps at the chance of hiring David.

First ever media duties in his life would be for one of the worlds most historic and famous football clubs, bottom of the PL with confidence lower than ever, on the verge of footballing and financial Armageddon, going up against the likely PL winners, fielding questions about Gordon, Onana, Doucoure, Danjuma and all the strikers we said we HAD to buy and didn’t.

Does sound like something we would do.

I sort of agree but at the same time I don’t think there’s a guaranteed alternative for success. I like each of the options for different reasons, Bielsa could be a great shorter term option but could be a disaster, Dyche could be safe but too safe and might not get us the points required to stay up all while playing unattractive football and Davide has no experience but has massive potential.

If we were to go down I’d probably prefer to have someone like Ancelotti who can stay with the club and rebuild right back to the Premier League, I also think Bielsa could do this but again he’s a headcase that could blow up at any point.

Basically I just want a long term option that actually have potential, I think Ancelotti is probably one of the first managers that we’ve been linked to since Moyes where they’re entirely unproven but at the same time have massive potential. Feels like everyone we’ve ever gone for is either a “has been” or “never was” or generally just the flavours of the month, we never go for the unknown with massive upside.
Moyes had back to back promotion and a play off final.
I’m finding it strange that our best bets are a manager that doesn’t think we are a good fit, a manager with no experience and Dyche who might have been a good fit 2 years ago but in our current predicament I can’t see him changing out fortunes radically enough in a short space of time.

Would be a pretty strange choice if the intention was to increase our chances of staying in the PL mid-season.

Possibly because of cash constraints again and lack of options ?

I did always wonder whether part of the reason his dad took our job was to give his son more experience - don't really see a problem with that - but ready for a relegation battle ?.
