I think Defoe on his way out of Spurs this summer after they signed Bent. Jol doesn't rate Defoe, he has said he prefers bigger, powerful strikers. Defoe doesn't suit their style of play.

After the Mancs just signed Tevez I think Smith will be sold.

Nugent looks a cert to leave Preston.

Out of the three, if we were to sign one who would you prefer?

Would you be happy with a bid of around 6/7m for Defoe?

Or another way to put it...

Nugent, Smith or Defoe? (all for the same fee).
 
nugent on his way to pompey for 7m... its a risky one.

honestly.. i think nugent is pants. i agree fully with moyes that no more than 4 million for him. defoe is too similiar to aj.

so neither!

anyhoo.. smith at a pinch. but i still think he a is prick from when he elbowed gough in the face.

gough was cool. afterwards claimed he had worse cuts shaving!
 

well at least he would be better then beattie on the crosses,passing,conrtol,scoreing,breathing............................................................

smith. we didn't go for Owen because he was similar to Aj how is defoe not the same.

Nugs is only happening for what Moyes thinks he is worth about 2.5 million. Which is a fair valuation for an above average player who has never played in the premiership let alone europe and has been good if not incredible in the championship - and who also has only one year left on his contract.

Think about it, its just the premiership and overrated english strikers. When Gravs went to Real, they were getting at the time one of our best players who had proven himself in the premiership and at international level for 2.5 million. (OK so he had 6 months not a year on his contract left)

So why is Nugent with a year left worth seven million - utter bollocks but fools with money like pompey will pay it.

Smith would be an upgrade on Beats. Ferguson played him in midfield alot, but the lad is a star up front. Give him some games and we could have the best set of english forwards in the gamel AJ, Smith, and Vaughan.
 
you could be right leon, but i notice nugent still not signed for anyone else.

still feel hes gonna call prestons bluff and refuse to sign elsewhere and force the price down. the closer it gets to the season, the harder it will be to replace him.

think were in great position because we are not desperate for him and can afford to wait
 
And that article says we won't pay over 4mill, which is right at the price I think we should pay. I know a lot of others agree with that price too. Preston are going to be in a dilemma, either accept 4mill from us, or risk having Nuge seeing out his contract and leaving them on a free and getting next to nothing.

I reckon 4m + add ons would be fair for him. Like £250K if we win the prem in his first, £200k if we win the FA cup in his first year, £250k if we win the uefa cup in his first year and £1m if we win the Champions league in his 2nd year. ;)
