Confirmed Signing Dele Alli

Seen a few people say about playing Alli in midfield. He plays as a forward off the stiker and whenever he has played in midfield for Spurs hasn't been any good.

Good interview on the Toffee Blues with a Spurs Youtuber who gives a good insight in to him as a player.

I think Lampard will play him just off DCL. Frank even said himself that Alli plays higher up the pitch than he did. I think we'll need to play him as a forward to get the best out of him.

Who will be left out, richarlson or gray? Nice headache like!

Yes, that is the only position he can play. He is not in any world a midfielder.

Probably Richarlison. You're talking about a system where DCL has always shined, well into the box with someone else there behind to give the CBs something to think about.

Richarlison has never looked that good out on the wing that far from goal in a system like that. Full marks for effort and tracking back, but playing him there takes away the best of what he can do offensively.

Richarlson always looks most likely to put away 50/50 chance though

Right, but he doesn't get a lot of those playing wide and deeper out left. He's not a pure #9, either. DCL is the player we want on the headers and the 8-12 yard balls, if we decide to attack more centrally.

Whether we go more direct or play more like today probably depends on what Lampard feels like the other side will give him that day. The extra COVID subs give him an opportunity to use those as Plan A and Plan B.

He said a few times that he thinks we needed a more technical player over Alli. More a CM than a 10.

Seems like we got that with VDB.

Think Alli would be best at 10 or on the left of a 3 in the forward line. If he does play 10 behind DCL then that could also interest Southgate if they click.
