I am well happy with this. So that's two new boys who immediately improve our midfield. Poor old Gomes and co will be crying their eyes out. At last we now have players that will prevent the same old dross donning an Everton shirt week in - week out knowing that their place in the starting 11 is safe as there is no alternative to replace them.

It's still a risk at 10m, but it's a risk that has more pros than cons. Let's hope he can hit the ground running. We all know the lad can play, but something hasn't clicked for a couple of years.

The 2.5 year contract length is also odd. It maybe shows that Alli feels he has another big move in him.

He is an ambitious player, so you could also look at it the other way. He gets 18 months to prove himself and, if he does well, the club could sell him with 12 months left on his contract instead of him lose him for free.

It benefits all parties. Spurs want him off their wages as he earns a lot and does not play so much. Alli wants a fresh start and Everton take a balanced risk that could get us 18 months of a top class player, or if it does not work, it is no big loss.

its probably a small sum up front and then larger sums in bonuses, sell-on fees etc - that way it will appear massive on their accounts and stick within our FFP
