The thing is, he's on a big wage at Spurs. he hasn't performed for 2 seasons and has lost his place in the England set up. And he isn't wanted by the Spurs manager. Levy needs to be realistic on the transfer fee if he wants to offload him, in exactly the same way that we have had to be realistic with the dozen or so players that have fallen into the same bracket with us over the last 2/3 seasons.

Honestly didn't want him but having thought about it a bit more we've now got Alli and VDB both looking to essentially restart their stuttering careers, if we can get the best out of them, and I appreciate it's a fairly big if, then we could be onto a winner for a relatively small outlay.

I've always believed we should sign 3 types of player. Young with potential. Middle of the career with something to prove, or end of the career but with a good work ethic and strong character.
