Exactly, if we stay up - he scores 20 plus goals over 2 seasons then 40 is a fair price remembering we could sell him on for that or more.

If it's we stay up this season and he plays 20 games this and next season and scores 5 goals then it's a bad deal.

If the “ free but £10 mill if Dele plays 20 games” is true , then effectively we’ve got around the loan rules . 18 PL games left this season and he’s cup tied for the FA cup. Presumably there’s a clause that says if he doesn’t play 20 games, I.e. effectively next season, then he returns to Spurs , and we don’t pay £10 mill. Without seeing the detail, it appears to be the equivalent of “ a loan with an option to buy for £10 mill”. I’ll happily take that for Dele.

Why are people soiling themselves? It's evidently performance based. With the set of targets involved I would imagine if he hits them then we would have no qualms paying the £40m because that will mean hes performing well. Initial £10m is a good deal.
