You have to ask why, he's had 3 mths or more to to get sort of fit.
Even Rondon looked a bit better after 3 mths, well fitter any way

Agree mostly with what you wrote but I actually thought it was his composure which changed the game, the antithesis of energy. Here we had a player completely different to the others who was going to look after the ball while everyone else was 100mph around them… exactly what Gomes was supposed to be doing but was too busy worrying whether his pea heart would overload with another petulant foul. excellent cameo and I hope that crowd and atmosphere has reignited something in him because what a player we’d have if he found his mojo

Agree with this, I know pace is super important in the modern game but we have that in abundance with the likes of Gray, Gordon, Richy, even Doucoure, and all too often their legs are too quick for their brains and the end product goes missing. Whereas a good example of a guy who isn't super athletic but does it all with brains and technique is Eriksen, and that's the kind of guy we've lacked. On last night's showing maybe Dele can be that guy next season.

We'd have won comfortably would be my guess if he'd dropped a centre half and brought Dele on in a 433.

At half time last night that game was all that was going round in my head, muttering to myself "ffs Frank why, ffs Frank why" and that was the missed opportunity that we would rue as we slumped out of the league
