Rodwell made 86 appearances for us, don’t know which 12 months it was we played in every competion in European football to achieve that many appearances.
He was called up to England 3 times between 2011 and 2013….. so presumably his good 12 months was 2011 and he got call ups over the next 2 years off the back of that?
Not to mention some actually paid £12 -16m for him rather than giving him away to get him off the wages.

Dele was considered one of the best young attacking midfielders in the world for 2/3 yrs. yes he’s had a tough couple of years. But him and rodwell are not even comparable. And Richarlison had gone 13 goals 13 goals 7 goals 4 goals. So I’d say that’s a downward trajectory.

Dele while being an attacking midfielder, has a better goals per game record than DCL. Over a similar amount of games and they’re a similar age. DCL has had a disruptive season but has one goal from open play. And finished last season poorly, but our fans think we should be getting 60/70mil. But Dele on a free is the worst buy in history

I'd have DCL up top and Dele behind him.

Next season after a preseason is where I see Lampard putting his stamp on the squad with ins/outs.

If we go into next season with them as our front two then I think it will click.

The issue is what players to bring in and use around and behind them

Taking the same career trajectory as Barkley and rodwell …. Said we should never have signed him.

Signing players that can’t be bothered for a cl club , and hoping they will “want “ to play for us has literally never worked.

Only Everton could be in a relegation battle and sign 5 players to save them, 4 of which being unable to break into the team
 
What goes on with a player that’s a world beater for a season or two, then only good for the bench after that. At some point did he have a minor stroke and forget how to play football? Was he a one trick pony that the opposition figured out and was suddenly easy to defend.
Or did he wake up one morning, realize that he was going to make millions, whether he was “star” or a 2nd or 3rd choice squad player, and just stop trying.

The last option appears the most likely. It was openly reported Newcastle were after him but he didn't want a relegation fight, so is he going to much in here?

A significant part of a player's success is their mentality and how dedicated they are to football. If you don't give 100%, you won't get anywhere near back.

Now that's all conjecture: he may be giving his all and it's something else. However, I doubt people would be surprised if he isn't.

Considered by who? The media who tell us about their top 6 darlings? Always thought he was OK at best and carried by others around him. He's been proving this point the last few years. He makes Iwobi look good and Iwobi dog s....

Him being talented means basically nothing if he doesn't apply himself in games.

Oh yeh not saying he’s a world beater there’s obviously something not quite right with him but he’s 100% our best actual football player.
