Tbh he is lucky it was actually working, they make Rolls Royce up the road from me here and you see them out test driving them and out of every 5 Id say 1/2 usually ends up pulled over on the A27 or at the side of the road somewhere, they are awful things.
I'd be amazed to see him leave on a free this summer, he's, allegedly, on 80 grand a week. If that is remotely accurate, you can rest assured that no other club would be daft enough to pay him those wages. He's got a two and a half year contract. Our only hope is that he finds his form, because he is going nowhere while we have to pay him that kind of money. You really can't blame him either.
If he's offered the chance to terminate his contract this summer and says no, then that would tell you everything about his ambition to get back to playing at the top regularly.
If he's offered a chance to terminate his contract this summer and takes it then he will be a very unusual footballer. Would you agree a contract with an employer for 80 grand a week for a period of two and a half years and terminate it early if you were not as good at your job as your employer had hoped? No, me neither.
He'll have no shortage of teams wanting him, particularly abroad, probably not the same amount of money though in fairness. I think if he's desperate to get going again, then sitting on our bench for 2 years is the wrong option - after doing the same for Spurs.

When Everton needed a center half or holding midfielder even just as stop gap no frills nah lets get someone on massive wages who is sitting on a bench at another club to come here and sit on the bench
I'm getting increasingly nervous about what looked a great deal at the time. If I am reading things right, we could be faced with the problem next season of having a player we don't want, taking wages every week that we can't actually play because it will trigger a huge payment to Spurs and we can't sell because nobody has seen him play in ages.......that would be typical of this set up.
Hopefully he's benefitting from some intensive training during the international break.
I've tried to watch him when he's come off the bench and he looks a clever footballer. Touch and movement is there. Couple of smart passes that have either not been converted or not quite come off.
Maybe it's simply that he's not fit enough to start a full game. Maybe he's half arsed in training. Just get the feeling we won't see too much from him in little cameos off the bench.
