Can promise you this ain't happening, we were 2 years late cutting him loose. Should have let him go to PSG when Pochettino wanted him, I'm not convinced he can revive his career from where his head's at now.

Really thought the move to Everton would give him a new lease of life, being at a decent club while having a personal point to prove. Gutting because he's still relatively young and somewhere in there is a very, very special talent.

I thought he was. I thought it was one of those structured deals that no money would change hands untill he played a set number of matches and the deal ran out at the end of the season with an option to buy?

No mate, we don’t pay any fee until he reaches 20 games, however he doesn’t return to Spurs at the end of the season, he is contracted permanently to us.

Ah yes, the Everton way. So the choice is (A) pay him his £100k a week, or whatever for about 3 years and don't play him, or (B) play him a couple of times before realising he's in flip flops, pay Spurs £20m and continue to pay him £20k a week? I go for option A.
