2022/23 Dele Alli

Clearly has talent. Watched him in the warm up at the pit and he killed a ball stone dead with his studs (smashed at him from about 20 yards) without appearing to look at it. Unbelievable.

Also watched him having a laugh and not being faffed with the warm up when we were close to disaster in the last few games of last season. Equally unbelievable.

I wish him well but he wasn’t for us.

He’s so confusing. Everything suggests he just isn’t at all bothered about football, I have no idea how bad he must be in training because no one who works with him wants anything to do with him.

Yet he seems like a nice enough guy and if he’s lost all interest in his career why did he even sign for us then agree to go to Turkey to try to get first team football? He could’ve stayed in London and collected his fat contract from Spurs.

It’s just so weird to see someone so talented completely finished by 26 without a career ending injury. I suspect though after this loan we have no choice but to pay up his contract and let him retire, no one will touch him now.

I can categorically say that I wasn’t hopeful or curious, it was just obvious to me that it was going to be an absolute disaster of a signing. I’m shocked that some people thought it was going to be anything else.
I was. I mean, apart from the Everton of it all, and you sometimes have that slight hope where at some point, something has to go right, surely.

But hes still a young lad, hasnt had serious injuries, fell out with 2 managers who have a reputation for falling out with people, and was previously great. It was a gamble, but sometimes a gamble is worth taking, especially if a manager believes they can have a positive effect.

He will be back in June and he will have 2 months and 1 final chance to prove to a tough task master in Dyche he is worth keeping, or he will be released or loaned out again until the end of his contract. With no money down, hes not even close to being the worst deal weve had in the last 5 years, which tells its own story.

Have you seen how Dyche has our midfield playing? And by all accounts he’s got them going closer to full tilt in training. Seems like Dyche + Dele is a match made in hell. For Dele at least.

Probably would be, but sometimes a particular individual can get through to someone who was thought unreachable. That's not to say I'm pining any hope on that happening but he will have to report back to training and he will be told the full unvarnished truth by Dyche. He'll either get on and try and work hard to save his career or he will be bored sat in the stands and eventually paid off and that will be that for him.

Who knew Gray would be able to chase and harry to be involved in a Dyche team for instance? Although all that could be moot depending how many more games he can play before triggering further payments to Spurs. Any less than 5 and he would literally have to play like he has fireworks coming out of his backside in training to make us even think about having him here in a major capacity next season.

He might well be done, but nobody can see they weren't hopeful / curious when Lampard brought him here. You can definitely see the thought process behind it.
I see this a lot..... "Lampard brought him here."

Lampards arrived at his desk the last day of the window. Our revered chairman said "we have Dele and Van DeBeek lined up. Take it or leave it."

Dele Alli is pure Kenwright theatre. The chace to revive the career of a former shining talent was just too much for that stupid arl [Poor language removed] to reject.
Incredible to think just 3 years ago he was still a first choice in England's midfield but then Lingard and Barkley were also regulars in those times so you lose a bit of focus and drive and start to bench warm and your career can drift off course pretty significantly.
Alli, Lingard and Barkley.

If we had a footballers version of mastermind I'd look forward to their episode.

When we were pumped 5:0 by Spurs he came on as a sub and was having a right old giggle with his former team mates at full time. Absolutely infuriated me that he lacked the awareness to even pretend a result like that hurt.
What was even stranger was a fair few on here saying that was ok, he was with his old buddies and was to be expected 😵‍💫

They’re both represented by CAA base, all involved will have known what was lined up I suspect. Lampard would have endorsed it behind the scenes during negotiations for his role.
Doesn’t get away from the fact our football operations team should never have gone near him with a barge pole….. Unless there was an element of ‘if you want Lampard you need to take Alli too’ (then there’s the argument they shouldn’t have touched Lampard with a barge pole either)

Harry Redknapp is on record (others sand myself have posted the talk sport interview) its he encouraged his nephew Frank to sign off the Dele deal, best business he and Everton and Frank will do... In the same interview he goes on to express his disappointment in Dele.
