2022/23 Dele Alli

True but Lampard was arrogant enough to think that he could connect with him and resurrect his career.
Since then he's failed with 2 more clubs.
No he's finished and now everyone knows it
Don't think it's fair to label that as arrogance.

Any manager worth their salt should back themselves to bring the best out of a talent like Alli. The lad is still only 26. It's insane what's happened in his career.

I'd be willing to wager Lampard would have continued to back himself in getting him back to form if he hadn't been constrained by the finances of his deal.

We were headed for relegation. I’m sure if he thought Delli would be any help he’d have played him without hesitation.

Looked to me like he didn’t fancy him from the offset.

You can't just wave a magic wand. Maybe he needed more time and support at a club that weren't perpetually on the edge of a crisis and/or meltdown.

Lampard wasn’t even worth that.

He might well be done, but nobody can see they weren't hopeful / curious when Lampard brought him here. You can definitely see the thought process behind it.
I can categorically say was neither curious or hopeful. Nature of the deal itself was enough to set alarm bells ringing for me. Spurs / Levy are no mugs, essentially letting him go for free so long as some schumcks pony up his wages…..

I can categorically say that I wasn’t hopeful or curious, it was just obvious to me that it was going to be an absolute disaster of a signing. I’m shocked that some people thought it was going to be anything else.

Ignore the fact he was a great help v Palace.
We got him on a free. A lad of much talent who had gone off the rails, most thought due to Jose. Turned out that was not the case. Compare the minimal risk of signing him to the massive fees we have paid for rubbish these last seven years. He was well worth a punt on the terms we got him.

I just don't think he's that interested in football anymore.

Says it all when he was making front page of paper for snogging Guardiola's daughter when Spurs played Man. City in the cup final than anything he's done on the pitch.

Incredible to think just 3 years ago he was still a first choice in England's midfield but then Lingard and Barkley were also regulars in those times so you lose a bit of focus and drive and start to bench warm and your career can drift off course pretty significantly.

Just don't understand why this wasn't a loan deal. Could've just sent him back to Spurs end of last season and then he's their problem again.

He'll be in MLS next season.

Agree, don’t understand how anyone thought this would work out any other way other than saddling us with another expensive wage hoover who contributes nothing to the team in return and we just have to wait for their contract to expire.

So many rumours from spurs fans about his lifestyle. Seems to fit really. I mean imagine being that young and still being able to command a contract that lucrative without doing anything. He probably knows he's peaked some time ago
