Because we are not a charity organisation and can absolutely not afford to be one now. Im aware its cold to say, but he is not our responsibility - Dele going to rehab doesnt change that. We have paid him handsomely to do borderline nothing and I see no non emotional reason to keep doing so.
We have not paid him to do borderline nothing.

He has gone out on loan and has always been fit for selection when he was here. We pay every player to turn up and be available to play football and he has done that. It's not his fault that he has had to go and do it elsewhere.

He "has" to ? Bit shortsighted. Could be pivotal in our team.

So as a fan base do we disregard the cost of his salary based on his underlying mental health issues, even though he hasn’t contributed to the team?
With that moral mindset do we therefore forgo any claims of poor performance from others in case there are similar factors?
do we accept to be more concerned about player mindset than team success as it seems (from this example) that the two do not seem to be possible?
Are we putting sentiment before success?
Interesting to understand the priority..

You can do both.

Well yeah, because they didn't award themselves their salary did they?

So as fans what should we do? We never awarded them the salary either?

And if other players don’t perform, do we hold our breath to see if there are underlying issues?

Are you really this dumb?

Well it’s a question - as fans do we tread carefully with any player in case they have issues? What’s your advice?

I mean, yeah. Maybe just think twice before you (not you personally, you get it) start spouting off that your least favourite footballer is a terrible human being who obviously doesn't care about their job and doesn't have the right to feel bad because they make good money.

Or, if that's not possible, just realise there's a difference between not tracking your man and being sexually abused.

What are you on about?

As fans we don't have to DO anything!

It would be nice if we could support one of our own players though without thinking about anything else. It's the human thing to do.

But that doesn’t answer the question, look at the Neal Maupay thread and Tom Davies, how do we know they are also not affected in some way by mental health issues?

I'm sure they are. Having thousands of people saying you're bad at your job in abusive terms on the internet everyday probably isn't a pleasant experience. I know, I know, they should just be better at football.
