Confirmed Signing Demarai Gray

You've invested well no question - but it also helps being able to fleece daft clubs into paying £80 million and £50 million for bang average players like Maguire and Chillwell.
lol:D that does help.

But the strategy is the key thing mate, we’ll get more clubs spending the same amount on the likes of Tielemans, Maddison and such like the future.

But you can also make cheap shrewd signings and do the same, look at us with Mahrez & Kante, you did it with John Stones.

Players like that are out there, instead of cheap cast offs like Gray & Townsend who will probably bring you nothing in a few years.

The best example I’d use for ourselves recently is James Justin, like yourselves back in the day with Stones, a good, young upcoming talent from the Championship, for a nice shrewd price, who’s price will inflate in a few years.

Justin ended up being our best player last season until he got injured.

You have the right strategy in the transfer market, you’ll get better long term success, as I said more Godfrey’s, less Gray & Townsend’s

I agree me arl Leicester pal. Problem is, up and coming championship players demand decent fees these days. And we appear to be absolutely skint.

Your club is a well run club. Buying young players from the continental for cheap and let them grow into established players.

Interestingly, or not, I know someone who worked at an unnamed bank a few years ago.

Apparently Demarai Gray phoned up asking why £70k or so had gone out of his account, only to reply, “oh yeah, I forgot about that” when told he’d bought a car.

What a world these footballers live in.

Are you married?

You seem permanently depressed.
I'm very down on Everton at the moment. If 18 months ago somebody told you that in the summer of 2021 we would still be in the midst of a massive global pandemic, that Rafael Benitez was Everton manager, that we would be signing Andros Townsend, Asmir Begovic and Demarai Gray, and that somehow we managed to sign James Rodriguez but that a significant minority of our fan base and our new koppite boss wants rid of him despite him getting 6 goals and 4 assists in his first injury ravaged season you would laugh in their face and call them a WUM but here we are.

Not free, millions a year in wages.

Funny enough none want to play for £75 a week these days.
When all these proven quality players become available when can throw our hat in the ring.
Until then if we stop paying 30/40 million for bang average it suits me.

Spot on.

You don't know how much it rankles when I see the players you buy thinking we should have gone for him.

I remember when you bought Maddison I was having a moan in here and everyone was saying we have Siggy. The same people celebrating like we'd won the league when he nutmegged him and scored a worldy in the next league game between us. All seems a very long time ago now.

Good luck against the big boys this season. I hope we sort out 2/3 decent transfers and are up there with you.

Can't believe we're actually in for Gray.

Obviously they are not going to play for free, that's my point, you don't get better by signing mediocre players, small transfer fee or large transfer fee. We're obviously broke. New manager, free agent. New players - Begovic - free, Townsend - free, Gray - £2m. Signing bang average players for big fees is worse than signing them on frees but we just need to stop signing them full stop.
