There is an interview with DG in the USA preseason, he says that Benitez had been in touch with him for about 12 months and had told him that when he (Benitez) gets a new club he wanted to sign him. DG goes on to say Benitez was phoning him every few days and had been watching his matches and helping him with improvements he could make, a shrewd signing and doff my cap to Benitez on that signing.

Sometimes all it takes is someone having huge belief in you for you to succeed. Feel like he hasn't had that since he left Birmibgham. He's probably someone who does need an arm round the shoulder and made to feel special to really feel good about himself and perform.

You can tell he absolutely loves being here and being the main man. He's absolutely electric and our most exciting player since Deulofeu as someone said, but with more of a goal threat and stamina

I never watched Kanchelskis but for, what I've heard he's probably the closest we've had to him

I agree about Kanchelskis, although I would compare him more to Peter Beagrie who for me was an underated winger who could produce a worldie at any moment. I have a feeling that DG could be the next Tim Cahill as he has a similar work ethic and seems to really love being at the club. You can see he is streets ahead of those around him, I hope he takes Anthony Gordon under his wing and helps him develop as the passion AG is showing is promising I just hope his ability can match that of his passion eventually.

It's funny you say that because almost every story about Benitez is how he's not the best man manager, cold and never gives praise. I agree that he seems to relish being the man and long may it last. Should offer him a new contract latest by summer to keep him for his prime.

The best part about that clip Isnt even the goal, it is when Gomes looks up, sees Iwobi clear on the right and shouting for the ball and thinks ‘no f****** chance’ then switches it out to the left :)
Great bit of footwork from Gomes and a good pick out but I expected a run and cross from Gray when he picked it up. I certainly didn’t expect him to run in and do that ?
Gray’s first touch was dreadful as well ? ?

Be careful what you wish for, the desert may be Spotted Rondon.
You can shift rondon for free to another club...thats the difference...the fact that we did not paid anything means that there is very little risk unless he refuses to leave until the contract is up. However I am sure that other clubs in China, Russia would be interested in him...

Yeah thats right, he's

The money is gone from the Chinese game and the Russian clubs pay nothing like the wages premier league clubs pay. Bottom line is he either stays here or gets loaned put with us paying most of his wages. A 2 year deal he's on.

Oh, or, we could pay him off full 2 years wages. Its easy to say he was risk free, he didn't cost anything. He will have been given a signing on gee as he was on a free, anything between half a million and a million and then he earns tens of thousands per week and will continue to do so for 2 years.

Doesn't sound like such a little risk when you think of it like that does it?

Compare to players like iwobi, gbamin, etc...its pretty much risk free...he will get another club quite easily anywhere in the world that will probably cover most of the wages as I don't think he is on top wage here and the fact that he is on a 2 year deal with another one as option kind of confirms it.
