Crouch preaches hte opposite on his podcast. Basically said with Benitez it was his way or see the door. As we've seen with Digne and possibly James.
Good, since the last few managers have been far to weak, and in Carlos case it was a who cares anyway approach, we need a manager to get these time wasters into shape, its clear how much they are working for him since we have gained points from behind a lot this season.
Some pros are like Lucas and James and basically want to do what they like, but others play for the shirt and take pride in what they are doing, even if they dont always have the talent, James and his jet didnt even pretend to care.
Gray, Townsend, DCL, Pickford, Keane, Allan, Richy, Coleman and even Iwobi are giving it all they have, ok in Iwobis case its not much but at least they are trying, because they have too and most importantly they want to.

I'm sorry but Lucas Digne, who's biggest contribution as a footballer is his attacking quality, has every right to ask why hes been handcuffed really. Never has he shown a lack of effort or half-arsedness. I'm all for having a manager who has their way, sets discipline and takes no nonsense, but I cant buy for a second that Digne has no right to question it. I dont think it is weak to listen to a player who has concerns about his own role as he's not able to provide his strengths. He's an OK defender, but much better going forward. The biggest weakness as a manager is to think your way is always the best way.

It absolutely applies to James, which big picture is fine, but short-term how useful would it have been to have him play some games this season and create things? Benitez is right when he says it cant all be fixed in a few months, but he has made the problems worse by doing what he has done.

Iwobi half-arses it every game by the way, thats why he has next ot no support from the fans. Those who give everything and show it, wont get a free pass but will at least be given some appreciation. For all of Coleman's downfall over the past two years, has one fan ever suggested he's not arsed or isnt giving everything? I'm not having anyone suggesting that Iwobi is putting in a shift, he isn't.

Lucas has the right to ask, and when he is told why he has to accept it and play for the shirt, he was poor under Carlo too, so this isnt on Rafael. Besides he gets ripped so many times by attackers, if he goes forward to much he is leaving us far to exposed at the back.
As for "It absolutely applies to James", it absolutely cant apply to James because he was done with Everton before we have approached Rafael, James throwing his hand in happened the end of last season.
There are things you can blame Rafael for, such as his early season zonal marking, and his team choice v QPR, but not being apple to talk to players isnt one of them when only ONE player seems to have a problem, which started last season

I agree with this, I am all for an open door to the managers office, but as Brian Clough once spouted when he was talking about such subjects, "we'd have a chat, discuss all the issues then agree that I was right all along".

There can only be one boss, even if he is an objectionable FSW.
We’ve spent years slagging the players off and complaining the managers don’t do anything.
No one knows what’s really going on behind the scenes with players. He may be justified or out of order.
If it was Carlo I doubt it would be questioned half as much.

Does anyone really think that Guardiola, Tuchel or Klopp allows a democracy on how they think their team should be playing? ‘Hi Pep I was thinking that rather than doing the defensive work you told me to, that I fancy attacking a bit more’. On what planet would Digne’s behaviour ever be even entertained with any of those managers at those clubs? Surely our fans want a manager that is in control, has a way of playing, and fits the players into that system? Isn’t that what countless posts over the last few years have been about?

When it’s Benitez though this logic is out of the window. Apparently it’s completely healthy to have players openly in subordination of the manager and it’s wrong for the manager to have any response to that at all. In fact he should just keep playing a player who refuses to carry out his tactical instruction.

I take my opinion based on Benitez deals with players from Crouch who has actively played under him and had him playing deep.

As I said, Digne has been OK defensively, not great.
