We knew what we were getting when we bought him and he probably delivered just that. Just a few good moments and important goals but that's about par with him. We ve certainly had worse for the money we paid and hopefully a few £m back from the Saudis. Good luck to the lad as he realised he wasn't wanted so decided to leave / engineered his departure . Hopefully that's £10m in the kitty towards January's transfers but I won't hold my breath

I don't know the financial constraints that the club is currently working within and maybe the funds are really needed to keep us afloat. If that's the case then it makes sense to let Gray go for the reported £8-10m (c.x5 times what we paid for him). For the price we paid I'd say he has represented great value - if only some of the numpties that we signed to play at the back had performed so well.

Good luck to the lad

Its been remarkable the sales we have been able to pull off compared to what we used to(none). Unfortunately that doesnt help much when you dont spend some of it to bring in enough players...

Glad to see we got 10m for someone who was not part of the plans and would have been gone in a year

I don't know what went on behind closed doors but I know it was enough for Gray to go public about his frustration. (granted that might not take a lot)
A good manager doesn't let it get to that point, knows how to manage a problem player for a few more weeks till he can be sold.
A good manager doesn't go public and whip up club passions causing a rash of abuse toward the player.
This situation happens every day at every club but most don't release public videos slamming the player before he's left.
Honestly, it's all a bit 'Emperor has no cloths' when it comes to Dyche.
Do you honestly think there arent bad people who play the sport? Or fine people who do bad things and make mistakes from time to time? The idea seems if a grown man makes a social media post its not his responsibility, and instead he could have been easily controlled by another man. If you line up 100 players, of different backgrounds, personalities, character etc, do you think all 100 fall in line for a manager, none of them down tools, like posts, or have their family talk to the media? I just dont see where in this world you have experience humans so easily and consistently controlled, and so well behaved that no matter whats going on with them another man can control even the worst of them and what they do. If a manager(or anyone) can do that with every single person he surely should be running for the highest office in the land.

£8 million is chump change really that will disappear in the ether of our debts.
You can only solve your problems one at a time.

If he had stayed we would have forfeited the 8m/10m and also probably had to pay at least another 2m in wages, probably more.

This way we have received the fee and saved the wages.

It isn't as if the player kept a respectful silence waiting for the deal to happen. I think it is clear now that he has been agitating for the move all summer.

I don't blame Demarai Gray either, this move is about money. He is a journeyman footballer earning average wages by premiership standards. This move elevates his salary probably up and beyond the salaries of the best paid players in most squads.

Hard to imagine a better deal for a bit part player tbh.

The problem is more or less that we had plenty of money to get a replacement and we didn’t bother. More money in for players that needed to go is a good thing. Not spending the tens of millions we had in surplus to bring in a replacement is very concerning.
