Demba Ba

Laughing here. Love the way everyone is going livid over a player that's just half decent and nothing more.

It's June ffs.

It's quite simple mate. We have no money, so when someone who is "half decent" comes along and is affordable, we (I) want us to sign him asap. Even half decent strikers in the prem these days cost a lot of dosh. Look at what Villa had to pay to get Bent, who is more than half decent, but nevertheless it's an exorbitant amount.

I have to think the people calling Demba Ba crap either haven't actually seen him play, are trying not to get their hopes up in case we don't sign him or are just trolling. Because he's actually pretty darn good from what I've seen.

All these lerds saying he's rubbish must be on a wind-up. He's got a decent record everywhere he's been, adapted to the league quickly, hit seven goals in twelve games for a rubbish team including one against the ****e and is relatively affordable compared with practically all other players of his quality in his position.

Add to that we've been lacking at least one striker since Yakubu did his achilles, which was in September 2008 if I remember correctly.

By the sounds of it he'd also give us the option of using him as an auxiliary winger, which is another position we've been lacking in for years with the brief exception of the two month period when Pienaar and Donovan did well there for us.

The deal makes alot of sense for us if it goes through, assuming his knee problems are behind him. I'm surprised there are any Evertonians who don't have their fingers crossed for him.

Whilst I don't think he's a real option for the wing (certainly no answer to the perpetual problem) I have to agree with that.

Most people are glossing over how impressive it is to come from a significantly less demanding league and immediately fit in; straight away getting plenty of goals for an utterly dire team.

he has a good record everywhere he's been and he is reasonably affordable, I really want him because I fear if we don't sign him up we'll probably end up getting someone much much worse from a lower league.

By the time we get to August everyone will be eating their own beards and stuff. It's gonna get real crazy. Hope we get him though or I'm gonna kill Bill

He's a decent striker like, there's just no need for the gnashing of teeth that's abundant in this thread.

Burp the worm or something lids and get rid of the tension.

Mate. We've spoken about this before. I just don't rate him and can't see him in an Everton shirt. If he signs, of course I'll support him and hop he turns out ace, but in my head he doesn't fit the Everton mould compared to someone like say Shane Long who I know would work his socks of at the very least.

Marcus Bent worked his socks off. So did James Vaughan. Even Kieren Agard's all about the workrate.

Sometimes you need quality as well as just passion, or as the more cynical would call it, "running around like a headless chicken".

And despite supporting Ireland, I can't believe anyone would rather have Shane Long than Demba Ba.

Is there really an Everton mould any more ? I don't think so. And if there is/was, i wouldn't say it was based entirely around work rate. We were known as the school of science for a reason.

You know if we sign him he's got to play defensive midfield for the first 6 months. It's a Moyes initiation.

Me neither, im not keen on Long at all, he might do it at championship level but the prem is a different level all together!. For me, Long reminds me a lot of Kevin Doyle, all hard work and running and can be prolific in the championship but will struggle in the prem. Doyle is another weve been linked to and i wouldnt want him at Goodison either.
