I think the main reason i want this fella to sign is the money factor! to get someone else a similar goalscoring record is going to cost a lot more if we miss out on Ba...

if we get him for a relatively small sum then that frees up more money for moysey to use to get a winger/ another forward.

He's far better an scores more goals a season than any of our forwards hence trying to sign him , plus a free transfer , if he doesn't sign it will be a case of missed the boat dont kid yourself

Actually Beckford's record is probably better. He's a very good player but he isn't top class or anything.
 

Haven't really followed this thread but...

Has there been any confirmation about wages? Or are people just guessing it's 70k a week going off what early reports indicated?

Is the deal pretty much done? Apologies if discussed earlier. Any genuine info is always much appreciated.

I love Becks but it isn't. 37 in 97 in the Bundesliga is infinitely better than 72 in 116 in league one (over the same kind of time frame).

Becks is also 1 1/2 years older and managed only one more goal than Ba in his maiden PL season, with a much better team and way more apps (however much context must be applied to them; subs + unfamiliar position).

Demba Ba is the better player and he has the better record. He's not top class, true, but no one in our budget is. That's the point.

Listen there are levels in any sport , just as there are as strikers in the top league in the world , beckford has done well to make the step up from league 1 but let's not kid ourselves, the lad Ba might not be worth being held to ransom over but he's on another level up from Beckford,he's more on a similar notch to Saha only plays everyweek and he's younger
