I like most Everton fans thought the sky had fallen in when Carlo went to Madrid, where do we go from here, not to Rafael!!!. But 3 games into the season and it is clear that Rafael's impact is plain to see, with two outfield additions, both have had a huge impact, but it's what he is getting out of the players we already had, Iwobi, Allan, Doucoure and others they look like different players even Gomez is looking better. They are clearly enjoying greater freedom and playing a challenging exciting blend of football.
It's not perfect and there is a long, long way to go, but I respect that he wants everyone in the team to work, which is why he is so anti JR I think we have missed that grit.
Either by design or default, we have found a strategy that works, Rafael, Gray, Townsend, Iwobi, all sharing a common theme they all need this to work, the reality for me is that I think we can expand this in the coming transfer windows, to tap into that shared need to be successful.
There is an opportunity out there to benefit from the rising problem of managing and motivating more and more teenage millionaires. Don't get me wrong for every Gray, there is a Delph or Walcot but identifying that need to prove people wrong, or to have a legacy either way we need to make hay and build on crating a squad of players that want to play and want success.
