Did Madrid do us a favour?

I find this retrospect Carlo bashing unfair. Lets not forget where we came from prior to him. Koeman, Allardyce...it was a horrorshow of tactics and lunatic buys. Koeman, who added Klaasen on top of his other 6 Attacking Midfielders, just because of his inflated head that we need Dutch players (im Dutch, we dont.) Duncan then at least founded the basics of going back to 4-4-2 because that was the only fit for that team. Carlo took that 4-4-2 and played it for the first few months very succesful. Nevertheless it was still a disjointed team and him experimenting then with diamond 4-4-2, and 5-3-2 or 5-3-1-1 was where things got lost. The team lost its mojo and self believe. carlo scrapped a few unbelievable away wins, often just 1-0 or something, to then collapse at home because of individual player mistakes. Holgate losing a ball, resulting in a goal for opposition, who then dug in and boom, carlos tactics out the window. The last 2 months yu could just see the disbelief in his eyes.

Me, I didnt blame him one bit for taking the Real job. It was that, or another year of scrapping by, hoping to get near top 6, wich then would improve attracting better players and keeping guys like Jrod. With the notion he knew the current transferwindow was gonna play ot ike it does now: hope for the best in the last 2 or 3 days.

In the end he got us 60 points, he gave some good foundations, had quite a number of players that stepped up or fell through (Iwobi an exception maybe). The succes of Benitez is partly because of carlo imo. So lets not burn him to the ground, wish him good luck in madrid and that is that. Onwards.

Nobody can tell me we are not more energetic on the pitch compared to last season.
This is the most frustrating thing for me. Look at the performances we put in against the RS last season, they were just like the way we’ve played first four games… why didn’t we keep doing that whoever we against?

Anyway, we won our first seven games last season and it all ended in misery so let’s keep our cool even though we’re playing well.

It doesn’t bother me that Benitez managed Liverpool, it doesn’t bother me that he sa what he said. He was managing another club and doing what he thought would give him an advantage. With the attitude of some of our lot I would have been mo concerned if we had brought in a lovely man who only said nice thing.
This squad of ours needs a disciplinarIan who will not stand for players marking time and collecting big wages. I thought it was telling that Richy wasn’t allowed to overrule the manager’s instructions over the penalty yesterday.
He has had a good start but he hasn’t transformed us into a top four team, the situation with Hamez, Godfrey and even Mina concerns me. The fact that we can’t seem to attract players concerns me.
I think Benitez will stand or fall on what happens over the next couple of days, there are areas within the squad where we are threadbare, a couple of injuries to the wrong players could expose us very badly.
However, Benitez has started well, he has 7 pts from 9 and a cup win. The football has improved and the players look like they want to push on and try to win games rather than take the safe option very time.
I would give him a B+, he is exhibiting the signs of improvement but there is still a way to go.

Knee jerk reacction.. so far raphatel is under 2 points vs Carlo .. and he (Carlo)Beat spurs.. hold your horses until the end of the season.

Raphatel (who is already behind) is about the same 2 injuries to become second half season Carlos everton....
In the corresponding games last season we got the same number of points. He’s not behind.

Time will certainly tell. I believe we play a better style of football however that helps with the new wide players

Haha we won 2 games against sh*'te opposition and suddenly he is the messiah , when in fact he just a naughty little toad. I shall enjoy coming back to this thread as the season progresses
The ultimate ignorance is the rejection of something you know nothing about …you sure your an Everton fan? I am not calling him a messiah, I commenting on what I see, which is a change in the style of play and players seemingly playing better or with greater confidence…..Southampton nearly beat Man Utd so hardly [Poor language removed] and yesterday could of been so different and we could of been on the end of a 2 nil defeat. So with no respect your wrong.
The reality is one of us wants Everton to be successful and one of us would rather us fail so they can feel vindicated for their small minded, insular view on the world.

Wait until the end of October.

Then remove the names Ancelotti and Benitez.

Then decide which team have you enjoyed watching more?
I'm definitely no benitez fan but the last six months under Ancelotti felt like i had diarrhea but out of my eyes. Not saying benitez is going to be loads better but the start (and thats all it is the start) is more promising than anything we saw last season.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves, we'll see what happens once the pressure comes on, if we are in a battle for Europe at the turn of the year, that's when the players usually down tools.

Didn't we win the first 4 last year? Playing great stuff.

What's your point? Thats why i said this is a start and only a start, the quality of football I'll agree was good for the first few games so i was wrong with saying all season but i will judge on the season rather than four games, and last season was horrible to watch.
