In all honesty mate I dint think even in that scenario we could, the next tier down maybe initially but even city and Chelsea didn't jump right to the very top bracket of manager straight away.

I think there's only a handful of teams in the world who could actually get him, and the likes of arsenal, Liverpool, Dortmund etc I think wouldn't even be able to

It's an interesting play from Moshiri really. It could be a massive bluff to deflect the Allardyce appointment and if so it will backfire hugely.

The bit I found interesting though was the accompanying bit. That e wants the new manager to have funds akin to Chelsea and City. I do think more is going on behind the scenes. Maybe the ground confirmation is close.

Does that errand boy think he's being clever linking us to managers of that calibre as a salve for the donkey he'll eventually land us with this international break as a short term manager?

Its terrible psychology if he is doing that.

Moshiri is well out of his depth here. An utter embarrassment to the club.
It's not that long ago Dave that I saw a post from you asking what has happened to Nil satis nisi optimum ?

When the board now start to look at getting the best you accuse them of being a joke.

I have no idea at this stage which manager it will be as at different times in the last week I thought it would be Dyche, Dave Unsworth or Allyrdyce , but it seems to me that it is yourself and other who do not believe in the Everton motto... for Everton.

At least Moshiri is looking at the very top and that seems to be his target ...and just maybe sometime he will get us there. At least some of us can now be optimistic that we have an owner that believes he can get the best for the club and can make the club into one of the big players.

I find criticism of that ambition strange.

No, I'm suggesting that the second they had more money than us (and all of the PL combined) - they became the biggest, most lucrative teams to play for (save from Man United I guess, but that ship has sailed imo).

Giving you a hypothetical question here - you're a player, a star in, say, Spain, playing for Atletico. Two teams come in with serious offers, one of them is Everton, one of them is City. Who do you pick? You're not a fan of either.

One is currently flirting with relegation and has won nothing since 1995.
The other is in the CL, with a chance to win everything they enter, have the best players and manager, have won titles in the last 2-3 years, including the league.
This isn’t the point I am making at all.

I am saying that Everton are a bigger club right now, than City pre-2008 and Chelsea pre-Harding.

Clubs are laughing at Everton being linked with Sanchez, Simeone, etc, but the same would have been said about them clubs with comparable players/managers before their takeovers.

Certainly not Man City

Chelsea is debatable though - before Abramovich took over, they had attracted the likes of Vialli, Zola, Gullit etc

In the 7 years preceeding the Russian takeover, Chelsea finished 4th, 6th, 6th, 5th, 3rd, 4th and 6th - during this period they won The FA Cup twice, The League Cup, The European Cup Winners Cup, The European Super Cup and The Charity Shield

Granted, Abramovich's money took them to another level, but in those 7 years before he took over, Chelsea won as many trophies as we did in the mid 80s.
They had Harding bankrolling them before Abramovic did. Chelsea hadn’t won the league since the 1950’s before Abramovic, though.

City have always been a big club, it isnt accurate to call them a tin pot club! Whether they were bigger than us in pre-history is hardly relevant. The point is we are what we are, where we are. We are acting all hurt and offended at other fans chuckling at the thought that one of the most sought after managers on the planet would come to a club in turmoil, with a gash squad and just above the relegation zone? We wouldnt be doing the same? come on, we are Evertonians, we should have thicker skins than that, what with all the crap we have to put up with!
Man City have been in League One as recently as the 1990’s.

Getting handed a stadium is what saved them from carrying on their yo-yoing up and down the leagues, like they always have done.

They can’t even sell all their tickets for Wembley and against us in the LC semi they had a huge empty tier of seats, whilst we took an estimated 11,000.

Take that money away and they don’t touch us as a club.

Remind me again why our majority owner would not want to get the best manager he can. He thought he was doing so with RK and put his money where his mouth is.

He just cannot win. Whatever he does will deemed as wrong. He provided the money for transfers, got a new stadium movement in progress. His manager and DOF have let him down yet he is being classed as a fraud. He is doing what we expect from an owner and looking for the best and providing spends.
