My approach is realpolitik.

Deal with the reality of where we are rather than how it should be.
I'm just not sure Moshiri sees it that way. Again, as long as he won't change the way he runs this club, that DOF position is completely useless. Just think he's far to stubborn an thickheaded to see it that way. That's why I'm quite sure, there will be a DOF in place for this summer. Someone who's destined to fail. And so we keep going on and on and on.

What about Boys Pen for D.O.F. He could give rousing speeches about Diamond Geezer Stuart at Finch Farm and how Hans Segers comes to the Arteta Suite at his London HQ for cheese and wine.

Moshiri wants a DoF for political reasons: it keeps Kenwright from imposing himself on thre football decisions but allows him to employ a man who he can manipulate and bypass if need be.

It's strategic, not madness.

Spurs head of scouting and recruitment Steve Hitchen has resigned and is linked with a role at Everton.

So do we need a Director of Football or is it a failed model here and is a chief of scouting more appropriate?

Does he look good in ripped jeans ?

If not, I’m out.

I like th idea of a DOF but as said the role needs to be defined.
I think he must be selected by the manager - who is the ultimate judge on what players to pursue and sign. Relieves the manager of some admin - but he must be following the managers instructions. When a manager leaves then so should the DOF. Otherwise you end up with a squad like we have.

You wont see another human who pulls off that sleeveless cardi and ripped jeans combo as good as Brands.

Sadly think he got caught in the middle of a midlife crisis since his sacking. ?

We need a Director of Football. They need to be someone with real football expertise, connections and business savvy. They need to have a way of working and a vision for the club that aligns with Lampard's managerial style and team requirements. He needs to be someone who Moshiri can trust and back to make the footballing decisions. Then Moshiri needs to trust them and back them and let them do their job without interference so that the DoF and Lampard can get on with guiding the club properly whilst Moshiri handles business strategy, corporate marketing, finances, the new stadium etc. Will that happen? Only if Moshiri can learn from his own past mistakes and if he hires the right DoF who can work in synergy with Lampard. Fingers, as ever, crossed but breath not held.

….I expect Lampard wants a DoF and it was a condition of him coming. The role isn’t all about transfers but he has to initiate and endorse all incomings and outgoings.

As I said for a long time, simply blaming Brands masked the real issues with transfer processes at the club. Things didn’t change when he left, things need to change if a new DoF comes in.
