Great news mate, onwards and upwards now.i got given some A-D and some sleeping pills as well as a referral to a counsellor, he said the tablets won't start to work for a couple of weeks but i think the fact that i'm taking will just give me a boost sort of like a placebo
so hopefully things will start to pick up now, thanks again everyone
I have come to the conclusion that I might be depressed, but not constantly.
I look at my daughters face and see her smile and we laugh and joke and I am in a happy place again.
I honestly believe that her mum is the root of all my woes and if she were not in my life I would be a lot happier. However, she is always going to be there, so I am not sure what the answer is. I cannot just accept her, she is now a massive burden to me and probably going to stop me moving forward and getting on with the rest of my life happily.
Not sure what the answer is.
Are you separated ? Either way it could be worth talking to a solo or couples relationship counsellor.
A solo counsellor can help you make your own personal relationship much healthier or much easier to deal with. If it's a mutual feeling then a couples counsellor can help you work through issues, if you're together then I'd definitely recommend the latter but even if you're separated you could posit it to her as a way to make your relationship much healthier for the sake of your daughter
Like others have said I've found exercise to be one of the best weapons to fight depression. I think it's a combination of the exercise resulting in endorphins being released in to your body which can have a hugely positive effect on your mindset, and the improvement in your appearance. After a really productive workout I feel ace and a lot happier about myself.
I also think this might be a contributory factor.
I have had 2 boxing matches in the last 12 months and had something to aim for, so was super fit really. My last fight was on March the 7th, not been back to the gym since! Saying that, I am 45 so it was always going to be my last fight.
Tried to get back into my running but very sporadic at the moment, but when I did it a couple of weeks ago I felt good again. Definitely agree that this is a great way to pick yourself up and I need to get back on it ASAP.
Its kind of a catch 22 thing isn't it. You know the exercise will probably boost your mood and make you feel loads better, but when you feel the way you do then logic and rational thinking sometimes goes out the window.
Getting stuff off your chest on here is a great start and can sometimes feel like the weight off your shoulders you need to then kick on and give you that little bit of motivation. If not then at least you've shared it with people in the same boat that can offer decent advice. Whether that be getting in touch with your GP to discuss options or sorting out some counselling.
All the best though mate.
bit of an update
i've been taking citalopram for a week now and im starting to feel better
havent had a bad day since last friday and despite the side effects of the pills im starting to feel better, going to phone about getting some counselling sessions too
but all around I'm feeling a bit better about everything and am starting to enjoy work again even if getting out of bed is still hard
hope you're all well
What are your side effects mate ? Only asking as there are many different yet similar drugs on the market which work well for some yet not for others.... If the side effects are intrusive in any way speak again to yor GP or designated care manager.... Sometimes a different drug can work wonders.
As an aside, im guilty of not looking in this thread often enough, gonna make a point of coming back every day.
