Diving...Cheating...Scumbag

Arteta moves into a position where contact is inevitible and he wins a free-kick. Pienaar also. Is it diving? No because a foul has been committed, but it's forcing the defender to commit that foul which I think also needs to be addressed.

It all comes down to players trying to get other players into trouble, and although Gerrard is now starting to get lambasted for it, Le Tiss today on Sky saying he basically dived again, I think we need to have a balanced view on what is deemed cheating and professional diving.

In other words trying not to look at things through Rose Tinted glasses, which unfortunately most Evertonians seem to do.

I'd say most football fans do, but I get your point.

No, what I am saying is that there are players who dive and their are players who do what they can to get the free-kick. For me that comes under the same umbrella of bad sportsmanship.

Clearly Gerrard is in his own league in terms of cheating by diving, I'm just saying that for a balanced point of view we should also look at some of our own players who look to earn a free-kick by whatever means necessary.

It's just different levels of the same tactic.

Isn't Pienaar the most fouled player in the league?? (may be unfounded)

If a bigger player catches a smaller player like Pienaar then physics suggest he is likely to be forced to ground. as brute strength is something he cannot compete with.

So Heskey versus Zamora you'd expect a fair battle and could easily call if one of them dived.

However, when Stevie larr goes anyone near someone of similar physical appearance and stature, he goes down like a sack of spuds????

Size of player must be taken into account.

The way I see it is if your knocked over fair enough. If you go down without being touched, OR you make the most of being touched and go down then its outright cheating no matter who you are and who you play for.

I abhor diving no matter who does it. However lets be frank, Gerrard has literally made it into a profession and I am glad some one has put it print and pointed the finger. Having said that Ghost is right that Refs let the so called big name England intls get away with it. How was it if a foul was not given did the ref not book Gerrard for diving.

Remember a wee while back Wenger accusing AJ of diving and that just about ruined his play so Mr Wenger why don't you point the finger at Gerrard you must have seen the diving.
