Sell Holgate, get this lad in, sign a CB and have Gbamin and Gibson as further back ups, sorted ;)
Gibson is a ready made cover for LCB and another CH is defo coming in that’s 4 with ghambin covering if needed

I really don't think Gibson is ready for the step up and needs a loan tbh lads.

I further don't really rate gbamin at cb he's played 36 games there. Out of those 36 games he's conceded 54 goals, lost 20 of the games and drew 6. This was in France and Germany, what's he going to he like in the premier league at cb.

Seeing a lot about injuries on here, but in the last 3 seasons he's played 47, 35 and 31 games. Odd to say the least.
Played a lot with pain and because of it, it did affect his level considerably to the point that some suggested he should retire...only positive is that apparently when Henry arrived at the club it has helped him to get better physically and he did show at times (not consistently) some glimpse of the level he had the previous 2 seasons.

Can only go off what I have seen at pre season, Gibson impressed me a hell of a lot more than Holgate did tbh. Gbamin I have no idea if he can play there I've not seen him to have an opinion. If we do sign another CB I honestly think Gibson will be fourth choice. As @Eggs said it's very rare a player goes on loan from Everton and comes back to have a very good career with us.

....i’m not a fan of young players going on loan, very few come back and have a career with us. I think the best youngsters stay because the Manager wants access to them. Better they stay, work with Silva and the first teamers.

I agree but you can't just leave them to rot in the reserves on the off chance we end up with 2 injured cb's.

I think the reason why we haven't done well with loaning players out recently is beacues a) we've been loaning them out to the wrong teams and b) they just don't seem to be good enough for where we are.

I think now our youth players will have a career path planed out for them and I presume players at the age of Gibson will be loaned out to get some first team exsperience.

I think it would make more sense to have someone along the lines of foulds stay and bulk up the squad and Gibson go get some first team exsperience with a view to coming back and pushing for a starting spot.

I doubt he's personally conceded 54. Wide brush you're using there - imputing an entire club's performance to one player's play.

Did Gibson look good or did holgate look bad? I think holgate has been poor this pre season but I don't really count pre season for much tbh.

Saying that Gibson hasn't really done anything to impress me either. I know he's highly rated and the club have high hopes for him but he's very raw and needs first team football to get the basics down proper.

Going by the comments here and on twitter it sounds like he will be proper competition for Coleman perhaps even taking his spot.

Looked comfortable in most games, had a moment against Monaco where Morgan put him in a bit of a tight spot and then gave a pen away. He was solid in pretty every game I watched

I’m sure we’ll give him an extensive medical before we sign him.

....Gibson is 19, he’s only played age restricted football so he has to be managed carefully. Galloway and Garbutt might not have had his potential but both went backwards on loan.

Gibson can train with the first team, he’ll learn so much playing alongside experienced defenders. He’ll need to take his chance if/when it comes along. If he is sent on loan, I imagine it’ll be a sign that Silva isn’t convinced about him.
