I don't need to. I know when they've won cos my mum calls me about 15 minutes later.

For reasons completely alien to me this seems to be quite an emotive subject so I’m happy to leave it there. I have absolutely no interest either way in whether individuals watch Liverpool, I was just saying I can understand neilers point that completely avoiding their games for years may seem a little over the top in some cases. That doesn’t mean everyone who doesn’t watch them is obsessive - as I already said - but I can see the logic behind what he’s saying.
This mainly. Generally won't actually leave the room if someone has it on and I ahve a reason to be there, but would watch out of active choice. Only really watch other teams if it's an interesting match/good team or I can't ffwd MotD.Used to live with flatmates who had footy on all the time so couldn't avoid it every time. Same with the pub, might be on but wouldn't intentionally set out to watch them.
To be honest, I only watch Everton. Wouldn't go out of my way to watch any other team, other than perhaps, a lower league game if going with mates.
Why would anyone willingly become another consumer propping that lot up? Your sky/bt subscription is going straight into their pockets and they get a far bigger chunk of the pie than we will ever get.
This is the bit that seems to be confusing some people, and I can't quite see why.Used to live with flatmates who had footy on all the time so couldn't avoid it every time. Same with the pub, might be on but wouldn't intentionally set out to watch them.

I don't actively go out of my way to watch their games, I just have no major aversion to watching them when they're on. If they're playing Norwich at home and are likely to win 8-0 then I would tend not to watch it because I wouldn't find it enjoyable. If they're playing in a game that is likely to be decent and I have the opportunity to watch it then I will. I have sports channels because I like watching sport, refusing to pay for sports channels because some of the money they make ends up in the hands of Liverpool's owners would be the exact type of weird over the top behaviour I was talking about earlier.
That's fine, obviously. I was responding to a specific point questioning why people would have sports channels because it ends up with money going to Liverpool. Your example is absolutely nothing to do with that and so is - once again - completely irrelevant. What about people who pay for sports channels but don't click on the channel saying "Liverpool vs ..."?
