Does the club need 'rebranding'? Something based around the new location?

Horrible term 'rebranding' like, but you can bet the new owners will have been thinking along these lines. I can imagine them thinking:

"Gee, we're named after a district in Liverpool while Liverpool take the whole city? How do we look to improve this...?"

Regardless of what TFG may or may not be thinking, I wonder if there's big opportunity to right a historic wrong here, given we now sit slap bang on the banks of the Mersey?

Positioning the club (accurately) as Merseyside's club has to be something we look at to get the club back to where we were - the premier club in the locality.

Not a name to change to Merseyside FC, of course. That'd be absurd. The name Everton is sacrosanct. But we could use something to do with 'Merseyside' to replace the 'People's Club' pitch that's now fallen into disuse.

Thoughts?

Agree not sure rebranding the right word but 100% club needs to get more of an identity in the city. Is why i want by the new ground loads of it murals just everything to make this area an everton hub

This stadium is more than bricks and mortar. It's a statement.

We have to maximise that and stake a claim for being seen as, or aspiring to become, top dogs again in the city.

It'd be unforgivable if the club didn't have a plan around that.

TFG surely are looking at projecting the stadium onto the whole region.

Weren't you waffling on about the stadium becoming a rugby league identified venue? 48-72 hours ago or so?

How many which ways do you want it vek?

Hopefully i like the idea of the everton way with the stones, so hope they have more ideas like that. Have really heard about the cosmetics side of bmd so will give us more of an idea of the plans they want for the future. That and the whole 1878 at games with the flags i am excited to see when finally at bmd

Just been having a look at various vacuous political slogans. Insert Merseyside or Everton into some of them, or just use one of them unchanged.

The Tories 2015 general election slogan is particularly anodyne :

(EVERTON) - 'Strong Leadership, A Clear Economic Plan And A Brighter, More Secure Future'.

Its not a Merseyside club, its a Liverpool club.

We shouldnt act like we dont belong in our City.

Yes, im a wool, so its not my City, but it is Evertons.

Merseyside trumps Liverpool. It incorporates it but means something more than it. Internationally...Merseysound was known globally, for instance.

We need to own this name...and exploit to on every level. If you dont think that 'kin lot would do so you need your head feeling.

…..the ‘original’ city club in the heart of the city.

I do think re-branding is like lots of things, it looks after itself with success. If we’re the best team in the City, we’ll be doing fine and that should be our aim. Just put together a very good football team.
Always thought we should do what some German clubs do: add the number '1' after the club's name to indicate their historic premier status.

IMO we have to establish our own identity down at the docks first and foremost. We dont want to be known for being the home of EFC and rugby league. Money cant be allowed to compromise identity.

Anyway, I'm sure it's a one off.
Pick a lane dear!
