Those XL Bullies always acting out of character.
Something does seem to have gone very wrong concerning these dogs.

Be it bad breeding for cash by scum, inbreeding, inexperienced owners with powerful dogs, unsuitable breeds mixed into the bloodlines, whatever, but something has gone wrong. A disproportionate number seem to turn.

The original XL bullies were big softies, the early breeders worked really hard to breed out undesirable characteristics and make them among the best family dogs. It's sad.

I saw one a couple of weeks ago, adorable thing, you could tell it loved people and being around people; sadly it seems a breed that has taken a few bad turns and many are too volatile to want to be around.

Aye, my mate has one and he's such a placid lad. Only even barked once in his life, when a pigeon landed near him in the garden and startled him. They've got a young daughter and a Shih Tzu and he's so gentle with both of them. Lush dog.

Problem with these XL bully’s imho is they are bought predominantly as a status symbol as they look ‘hard’
Combined with their genealogy and essentially the fact they were bred for fighting, the vast majority of them have it in them to turn.
That not unique to that breed of course, but I think it’s undeniably more likely and combined with their size / strength they can be incredibly dangerous.
The stories of people mauled / killed by these family pets, I would bet, are also accompanied by tales of how soppy they were and how out of character it was.

Biased source, but a bit longer on the same subject and less sensationalist.
