DCL is an example of why we do not deserve nice things as a fan base. In 2 - 3 years this guy will be a beast. Has all the attributes needed, strong, fast, good heading ability. He just needs time to develop with a good coach.

Look at him physically now to 12 - 18 months ago. He has bulked up and will probably do so again in the next 12. He'll be a Drogba type beast given a similar time Drogba had to develop.

Same can be said for a number of young Everton players, if they've not done it by 21 or 22 they're not good enough. We're in such a rush to move on whether it be a manager or a player that we'll never be satisfied.

Football matches only last 90 mins but player and team development takes seasons.

Fair play. First Drogba comparison I've seen, usually Shearer and Kane. Some striker we must have on our hands here

Can we loan him out then until he comes good?

The problem is that he doesn't have all the attributes needed. Throughout his Everton career he has shown 2 things that are positive. The first is that he can bring something different, primarily when coming off the bench to cause their defenders problems. The second is that he is clearly valued by managers who see far more than we do, as this is the 3rd manager who has believed him in. For those reasons I think he is a valuable squad player to have and can have a positive effect at times when coming off the bench. If we want to be a midtable side then starting him up front is fine.

He has shown nothing to suggest he is going to be a "beast". He isn't that strong, he rarely shows this supposed "fastest" player claim, his heading is poor - most of his headed goals the keepers get a hand on. I've seen some claim he has a good touch when I also disagree there too. At times he shows a good first touch, and at other times it's awful. Him dribbling it out of play was proof that he isn't good enough to be starting games for us as that is not a rare occurrence.

It's clear that he is not ready to start up there on his own, and I am not sure he will ever be. There is some use to bringing him on in certain games and I hope Silva realises this sooner rather than later.

Good assist for Bernard's goal yesterday though, deserves credit for that.

For me he is a victim of the lack of a top quality striker. At this stage of his development he should be getting 10-15 off the bench or out on loan. However because neither Tosun or Niasse are the required standard and Richarlison is better from the left the lad is being hung out to dry. Maybe he won't be good enough but the situation we are currently in certainly isn't helping him. We need a 1st choice striker in and the sooner the better.

Calvert-Bambi has been likened to Graeme Sharp, Harry Kane, Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry, Anelka, and now Drogba.

Are we sure we can't stretch to Pele? Come on someone.
