It's got to do with replying "haha" to a post that puts context around DCL current value.

Rather than use the post to debate those facts and competitive values you reply ... "haha..... "

I thought you may have grasped that the Ha ha was me laughing at that content.

Ie.... It's a load of crap

I’m evidently dim but I still don’t understand.

If we sign a new striker, how can they prove they deserve a place in the team ahead of DCL without actually being in the team? Unless you just mean prove it in training, in which case is that even an argument? Surely we all just expect that to be the case anyway, that the manager will pick the team he believes to be the best?

The dim comment was aimed at posters who seemed to think I was saying we shouldn't buy another striker at all, which I patently wasn't saying at any point

I was merely saying any new striker would have to displace DCL on merit, either via training or by playing well when the opportunity to play presents itself (And opportunities will always present themselves), and it shouldn't just be a case of them just walking into the team

DCL is the first choice striker and shouldn't be dislodged unless a new striker can evidence that they deserve the slot more. Some seem to want DCL gone at all cost regardless of how good the new guy is, because they went hard into Dom earlier in the season and he's mugged them off by playing well

So he's gone from being the next Harry Kane... To being compared to bergkamp, baggio and co to now being worth £120m.

I hope to god this forum is private because rival fans must be pissing themselves.

We'd be creasing ourselves if a similar thread was on RAWK

Have you not cottoned on to the fact that people who disagree with you have more than the 5 brain cells you assume they have.....

No one compared him to baggio or bergkamp..... baggio and bergkamp were examples of players who were valuable forwards to their teams despite not being prolific.

Spin spin spin.....

Only my opinion.
DCL worth about 12m currently because he doesn't slot.
DCL is improving and doing a job for us but failing in his main job as a scorer.
We need a scorer next season that integrates hard work with goals. The question is whether DCL will add the goals to his play for next season.
The scenario is that lack of goals from your main striker is going to hurt the team and cost us many points therefore IMO we desperately need another striker.
Let DCL continue with his progress and hopefully add the important factor of making, creating and scoring goals to his already impressive progress.
In my book he is not there yet but very well could be soon. That inbetween time we need a slotter to add goals to Siggy and Ricos tally and not wait for something that may or may not happen.

I think you need to bring your pricing up to 2019 from 2009.....

Solanke went for £20m+.... he's scored one senior goal in his career.... and doesn't have a fraction of DCLs forward game.

How is he failing as a scorer? He has scored the number of goals he should score in respect of his chances....look at xg ......

Ie.... It's a load of crap

You spent all pre man United game slating the lad even going as far as criticising his general forward play ..... post United game where he had a brilliant game you can't bring yourself to give him credit

Sad really. Your ego in desperately trying to be right is stopping your enjoyment of watching a lad progress into a top player.... but you just carry on... we will carry on laughing.

Even by today's prices you're potentially valuing him as the third most expensive player of all time.

You're pricing this decades Marcus bent about 20 mil off what mbappe cost

It depends what you class as prolific I suppose. If you're comparing to freaks like Messi and Ronaldo then nobody's going to stand up to them, but if DCL has a scoring record anything remotely resembling Baggio and Bergkamp then I don't think anyone will be complaining, they scored about 600 career goals between them. Baggio in particular was prolific by any normal measure.

Only my opinion and I stick at 12m. Respect of chances could be a fault in DCL. Not in position, not smelling an opportunity. Chances are usually created by strikers that can score. I only see regret and fume if we are to rely on DCL next season to lead the line. Another striker is a 100% must.

You mean Roberto Baggio who scored 220 goals in 490 games in the league and 27 in 56 for Italy. Just shy of a goal every other game

The point is their value to the team was more than goals....

Roy Keane is a perfect example of this..... in my mind he never stood out as having anything particularly brilliant about his game from a technical or goalscoring standpoint. Yet every player who played along him said he made the game easier for them.

On talk sport Matt Holland said you knew that when he played other players would get 10% more out of their game. I see that in DCL....
