Barnfred 55
Player Valuation: £80m
He was poor on Sunday but no worse than the other 2 up top (3 if you include Niasse when he came on). Tosun seems bereft of confidence at the moment and needs pulling out of the firing line for a spell. Walcott has been decent so far this season but was awful at the weekend. one thing I'd say in DCLs favour is that he was played out of position on the left.Obviously it feeds off each other.
But I think it's just the social media/internet age that's made it worse.
DCL is a promising young player. He has played more than most at his age because he's had to. In the main, he's done well. He isn't a winger and he should not be played there.
He needs to improve his finishing but so far this season he's scored when he's been in a position to do so, bar one chance against Huddersfield. The signs are there that he's improving physically as well.
The other thing in his favour is that he is still young, inexperienced and still learning his trade. The other 3 are in their prime and, you have to say, unlikely to improve further. With them it's all about form and confidence as to how they play. DCL still has the potential to improve greatly. I'm not saying he will by the way, but he needs to learn from games like Sunday and continue to work on his area's of weakness.
As regards your earlier comments regarding our fans, I think the match going fans are different those on the internet. Or maybe the same but just act differently. Yes you do get lots of people mouthing of at games, but in the whole the crowd seems more understanding. Take Sunday for instance. I don't think Tosun could have given a worse performance but he was still applauded off when substituted. And likewise Lookman when he came on, despite all the goings on during the transfer window.
The internet fan is a different beast. In a lot of cases the same people who go the game but just act differently on the web. You just hope none of our young
lads ever log in to GOT. They'd need counsellinglol
