Trying to watch Uncle Buck as I type, so apologies for any typos. I fully appreciate that there are various aspects to a front man's job, rather than just scoring now and again and imitating a statue the rest of the time. I also accept that if the striker does the statue thing, then regularly scores our goal in a 1-3 defeat, he isn't helping us win.
None of this is rocket science, nor does it excuse a striker from not scoring. A taxi driver has to maintain good customer relations, liaise effectively with control, and not mow down pedestrians. No matter how good he/she is at this, failure to regularly get people from A to B is undeniably failure.
Arguments that DCL's service has been terrible hitherto are debatable, but very thin in my opinion. Nor do I remember Lukaku being as idle and useless outside the area as many claim, but that's another debate.
