Why?Seriously comparing the 2 of these footballers?
The problem is that sterling was missing loads of chances. Calvert lewin does not create the chances to miss them. That is why I can't see him improving.Sterling’s finishing was BAD that’s why it’s constantly brought up by every pundit now he’s scoring.
I’m not saying Dom’s will improve I’m just providing evidence it’s not impossible to get better at something through practice.
Because by the time Bent come to us he had been at 5/6 clubs, despite limited ability had gained experience & was part of a team full of seasoned pros & knew what he was expected to do by having a manager such as Moyes. DCL has even been played full back by a divvy Koeman who had no plan regarding team or tactics & the result of that left the club in a shitstorm for a year or could even be said just coming out of now. That has hindered the lad's development, same could be said of Davies. DCL might get bombed out after this season & if Kean comes good I am fine with that but he is not [Poor language removed] like is being said but no doubt has flaws. With the club still trying to build a proper squad with a proper plan I am comfortable with a willing kid in the side/squad than a total joke that is NiasseWhy?

Not often I like agreeing with anyone on this forum, but yeah... fair enough. All good points/rationale!
Koeman played DCL right back and left wing... he can play in neither. Saying that, I dont know one striker out there that can also play right back and left wing. What was that spud-head thinking?
mate you have just plucked 3 of the worst lads in that squad. How about the likes Stubbs, Weir, Kilbane, Martyn etc? proper lads with a good tight dressing room. As for Bent & his 83 games, he had been a pro for around 8 years before coming to us. yeah, of course our team is full of good players now, look at it 18 months ago, was that a side to blood kids in? my problem with the stick DCL gets is believe it or not all the things being said. It is the total lack of balance in the argument. A lot of what I am seeing is "he's [Poor language removed]", he isn't. he's far from the finished article & hand on heart I don't see him leading the line this time next year but there is a reason each manager has picked him & for now until Kean gets in he is the best option because the joke stopped being funny with Niasse a long time ago & Tosun has proved not good enough. To a large degree I agree with you mate but for now we have to get behind the lad, not dismiss himA bit one sided that I think.
Bent came to us at 26, having played 83 top flight games. Calvert Lewin is 22 and has played 79. Not a lot of difference there really. Calvert Lewin is also in a team full of seasoned pros, unless we're claiming that all the French, Brazilian and English internationals we've got are somehow less 'seasoned' than Tony Hibbert, Gary Naysmith and James McFadden. He never played full back either, he was just listed there (well, wing back) on the team sheet. He played wide right, just like Bent often did.
I'm not trying to have a go at Calvert Lewin there, but I don't think we should make excuses for him that aren't valid. He has experienced teammates, a competent manager, and is no longer a wet behind the ears kid. That doesn't mean he can't or won't improve, but it's not fair to suggest those things aren't true,

That's a lot of opinions you must disagree with then, perhaps share your thoughts if the rest of us chat such wham.
Much as I loved their efforts that season, Stubbs, Weir and Kilbane weren't better players to have on your side than Keane, Mina and Bernard, who are their equivalents now. 18 months ago we still had Jagielka, Baines etc and 3 months before Bent signed we'd finished 17th, before going through one of the most disappointing summer windows the club's ever had, he hardly came into a club on the up!mate you have just plucked 3 of the worst lads in that squad. I get that & I agree. Like everybody else I want a top forward in the side. Hopefully Kean hits the ground runningMuch as I loved their efforts that season, Stubbs, Weir and Kilbane weren't better players to have on your side than Keane, Mina and Bernard, who are their equivalents now. 18 months ago we still had Jagielka, Baines etc and 3 months before Bent signed we'd finished 17th, before going through one of the most disappointing summer windows the club's ever had, he hardly came into a club on the up!
I agree that he shouldn't be absolutely slated but at the end of the day he's playing up front for Everton and he's scored 0 goals in his last 8 starts. People are never going to be happy with that, and rightly so. He's not an 18 year old who's just been elevated from a League One reserve side anymore, he's 22 and has a decent amount of experience. He's a first team player and people have first team expectations of him.
Jesus I forgot he played DCL as a right back.Because by the time Bent come to us he had been at 5/6 clubs, despite limited ability had gained experience & was part of a team full of seasoned pros & knew what he was expected to do by having a manager such as Moyes. Up and against Cathcart and Dawson, surely/hopefully he can get a goal
