in fact, my bad, it was a green F, and you are a green E, so half of the stuff i said to you the other day was probably in reply to the green F too, i apologise

that's why i was chatting 5 in 6 and 31 in 38 and all that to you, as i say, my bad

HAHAHAHAHAHAH amazing

not a problem at all my mate

Personally I thought he timed it wrong, he dived too soon. I think he could have got to it if he'd taken another stride or two.

Just about able to watch the first half again and my initial suspicions were confirmed.

What you say is spot on.

He dived far too early.

Another stride or even half a stride, which he had time for, and it was an open goal.

In a lot of ways DCL epitomises what’s wrong with this club. For a couple of years now he has shown nothing to suggest he is anything other than a lad who gives 100% but is not good enough at the top level as a striker. He then hits a bit of a purple patch with a couple of goals coinciding with a bit of off field good news and suddenly he’s the answer to our problems and fulfilling expectations and we are prepared to offer him a new contract halfway through his existing contract to double his wages.
Amusing. It is the misuse of Calvert-Lewin by successive managers, not the player himself, that epitomises what is wrong with the club. He has pace, power, directness and aerial threat in abundance. Not bad on the ground either, just needs more conviction in his shooting, and that can be taught. Make DCL available for transfer and several clubs above Everton in the table would welcome him in their squads. Why? Because they’re better run than Everton and would find a way to make best use of his attributes.

DCL gave van Dijk more trouble than almost any striker he’s faced all season at Anfield a few weeks ago. The world’s best CB was even forced to ‘concede’ a penalty (which was not awarded) because of these attributes. Calvert-Lewin cannot play as a lone striker and does need a clinical partner to take advantage of the opportunities he creates whilst he chips in with 15 league goals and does the Firmino- and Benzema-like grafting.

Reading some of the posters here is a bit depressing; it’s almost as if some of you expect to turn a switch and get an instant upgrade on every player in the squad. Whereas what is needed and the only thing that can work, short of some sugar daddy Sheikh turning up and turning Everton into a new Man City or PSG, is working with those assets the club possesses who are potentially of value going forward, adopting tactics that maximise their strengths and cover their weaknesses and coaching them into getting better. It’s not rocket science: just look at what is being done at Leicester and Sheffield United.

The deadweight must absolutely be binned off. Players like DCL, Digne, Richarlison and Pickford (so long as he is given an ultimatum to cut out the showboating, focus on making the improvements he needs to make or face being shipped out) and a couple of others, who are potentially top six EPL standard with the right coaching, must be persisted with. If only to provide continuity and squad depth as Ancelotti integrates the incomers.

I thought this at the time. It's hard to call it a bad miss, because diving headers are never easy, but he took the one against Burnley so expertly and that was a much more difficult chance. He had to watch that one come over his shoulder and angle the header into the far corner.

The one against the RS came from the side and he just had to get any kind of contact on it and it's a goal.

Maybe I'm being cynical and unfair, but I suspect that DCL thought he wasn't going to reach the Burnley Cross, so just jumped as soon as he could. Scored through a combo of not having to judge the flight and what ability he has. With other crosses he actually has choose the right time for his move and consequently struggles. Maybe. Just a theory from someone who knows nothing, but there it is for what it's worth.

He's scoring fed on scraps .....oh for a creative midfield then judge him .....
