No ones doubting DCL's work ethic - they are doubting his quality in terms of being in the first team every week.

Fans like yourself think its either a choice between an egotistical lazy quality player or honest hard working limited player.

There are however players like Richarlison who have both - they are the players we need to find more of.

I've said for a while DCL is our Shane Long - hard worker and runs his socks off and occasionally gets a goal from hustle and bustle. The problem is however that alone isnt good enough if we are to seriously compete for the top 4/6, trophies etc.

Why bring one of the worlds elite managers in on a massive contract to settle for 8th-11th every season?

Our problem for years has been no competition for places - a top striker coming in to push DCL and Kean should be the aim imo.

Fans like you have been on his back relentlessly before his upturn in goals and other improvements.

Simply put.... you can't even see that he is one of only about 5 players who will be a long term option for us.

Will he be a starting number 9 in a better Everton 11? No, maybe not.... but when we are playing a team that likes to play out the back, a team where we need to win the ball high and for a player to run channels he will be the man.

He will be in our squad when Pickford, Keane, Walcott, siggy, Schneiderlein, Coleman, etc have long gone..... because he gives us something different. But you just crack on making out he's the biggest concern we've got.

Gana job is to break up the play and win it back in midfield. It would be much better if he could play a bit but he plays a good role granted. We need more from a striker that just runs and runs and frees a bit of space for another striker. Them players you mentioned didn’t have a major goal tally but have so many other strings to their bow. High skilled, reads the game, intelligent and can come up with a worldly when they want to etc etc. these things you either have or haven’t. You can see dom is not going to turn into di canio so he needs to be more clinical to be a top player it’s plain to see. He’s got good attributes but if he’s going to take us pushing and into the champions league. Running around with high energy is not going to cut it. he gets in good positions and that’s a credit to him but way too many times he sticks the head down and blasts it into the keeper. He needs to add a lot more to make up for thator some how become a slotter but it’s not looking likely.

You mean that a player can play in s role like midfield and have s different role than other players do????

Here was me thinking that Calvert Lewin was doing a similar type of thing as a forward.... mad eh.

i thought he played well yesterday and is gaining in confidence
Whether he will get to the striker we need in time is the big question, but I certainly wouldn’t sell him in this window

Fans like me thing that if there is a striker out there who has DCLs target man and athletic capabilities along with being a top finisher then they will be getting bought by Real Madrid for £130m...... that's the reality. .

I don't know what I'm supposed to be seeing with this lad.

To me, £70k a week for a player who shouldn't be near the starting XI is madness.

The thing is, we're paying other players who shouldn't be near the starting XI over £100k a week.

Once we sign a CF worth their salt he'll be a squad player which I wont have a problem with.

He's incredibly lucky that Kean, Tosun & Sandro who we have signed whilst he was at the club have turned out gash.

The way some carry on you would think he has saw off Aguero, Vardy & Lacazette.

Hes a Championship player, he needs to add goals.

Big Dom adds goals.

Hes still not good enough, he needs to score every week.

You guys.

Im not saying hes world-class, but hes a very good YOUNG Striker, who is improving all the time.

Let Carlo work with him, watch him rise!

Some players have the knack of taking the good chances like on Saturday Goat. he deserve the credit for being in the right position for tap ins, sure. Ultimately though yesterday's game could have been bottled after DCL missed two great chances.

I would be massively in favour of bringing in an experienced striker to help bring both DCL and Kean on, while giving us a bit more cutting edge in the short-term. Gives CA more options, takes a bit of pressure of DCL for the short-term, may see us be more comfortable in games.

DCL's movement, general play, link up, ability to be a nuisance has improved ten-fold, ultimately though he needs to back all of that up by taking his chances.

Ah.... you written off Kean already too I see?

I thought you may have at least let him get past his 10th game or 20th birthday first.....

Ive not written off anyone...

So you're saying Kean hasn't been gash so far?

If Kean had come here and hit the ground running racking up 10+ goals you think DCL would get in the side ahead of him and Richarlison?

yeah and bambi isn’t good enough as a forward. He either needs to be a slotter as a forward or needs to be an intelligent assist machine or Has to have something more than constantly running. It’s nuanced. You can’t just say cause gana isn’t a wizard on the ball = DCL doesn’t need to slot.

His finishing isnt the best, I agree he doesnt look like a predator, but as his composure increases he will get better.

Its a learning process, hes still a young lad and hes been in and out of the team, but hes now playing every week with a great manager training him, teaching him.

He does need to start slotting more, but I think once we improve the creativity in the side we will see more.

The bolded bit has 100% gotten better.

I just feel like natural finishers score both of those chances on Saturday. If he can grab 15 goals overall in a season, while another striker can hit 20+, that is a fantastic outcome, but as you say, more creativity needed.. ie a new CM pairing entirely.
