2019/20 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Everton are convinced the value of Dominic Calvert-Lewin has rocketed beyond £50million following his recent transformation, Football Insider understands.
The striker, 22, continued his scoring run by netting the equaliser for Carlo Ancelotti’s team in their 1-1 Premier League draw against West Ham today.

An Everton source has told Football Insider the club believe Calvert-Lewin’s valuation has soared in recent months and they’re now “sitting on a £50m-plus goldmine”.

The Goodison Park hierarchy have no intention of allowing Calvert-Lewin to leave this summer amid growing whispers of interest from elite Premier League and European clubs. But they recognise the former England Under-21 international is developing into a bona fide star of the English game.

Everton rated Calvert-Lewin in the £20-30m bracket but his transformation has led to a surprise climb in his value.

He has a contract that runs until the summer of 2023 and Everton are likely to offer him a new deal over the next 12 months.

Funny how when Lukaku scored goals but had limited all round play he was hammered constantly.

Now DCL is having a purple patch and scoring but hitting awful passes, etc yet is the dogs nads.

LOL

Let's get it straight..... lukaku never had or ever will have an ounce of DCLs target man ability. Lukaku couldn't control a ball, pass it or hold off players when stationary. If someone gave him a nudge when he took in a pass he would go off balance.

Ha ha unreal.

The same 19 year old Lukaku who bulldozed Carragher like he wasnt there to bang in a fantastic solo goal & who would often dispatch 1 on 1 chances after flying through defences yet apparently could get blown away like a leaf.

DCL can head a ball, tap a ball in from close distance & run around alot.

Thats it.

Still not good enough in my eyes to be leading the line.

If Lukaku wasnt good enough to push us on God knows how some have been hoodwinked into thinking this lad is.

Our Shane Long - perfect player to bring off the bench when at 1-1 like today to try hustle and bustle and grab a late winner but for me we need a top CF.

just imagine Lukaku & Richarlison up top together the sheer goal threat with DCL coming off the bench.

Thats what we need to be aiming for.

I don't imagine lukaku playing up front with anyone who wants to receive a pass or expect an intelligent run from the big galoot.

He's in a great league for his flat track bully antics now.

Your previous personality on here ripped into Rom.

You hated him.

Lukaku has his flaws, main two being not scoring when it mattered on a regular basis and disappearing for the last 10 games each season he was with us.

DCL is getting better and better, but ultimately is a kid who we purchased for abar a million quid with limited expectations, that’s why.

It looks, to me, like you’ve probably been critical of DCL in the past (I may be wrong and I can’t be arsed checking) so now you’re clinging on for dear life, using all sorts of comparisons, including one against a £28m signing 6 years ago (allow for inflation) which quite frankly is ridiculous.

Grow a set and admit that DCL is doing a great job. He has the same number of PL goals this season (his second full season as our main striker) as Lukaku did in the entirety of his second full season with us.

Lukaku used his weight advantage properly only a handful of times in a game if that. Absolutely pathetic waste of stature, I've watched him get bullied relentlessly by the likes of Daley Blind, paddy mcnair, Olsen, moreno...... quite simply if the ball wasn't placed in front of him to run onto and he was asked to shield it from a defender in a stationary position... he would lose it.

Complete and utter inability to use his frame properly. Awful in the air. Finisher against poor sides ... that's it.

DCL isnt doing a great job - we've literally had to change our formation, tactics and shove our goal scoring wide player through the middle to play a front 2 because he's that garbo he cant play up top on his own.

Unreal how he's scored a few goals in a hand full of games and is suddenly Del Piero.

If he was top quality we wouldn't be scoring just the 1 goal per game as we have in our last 7. Yes thats a squad problem in general but a top striker in the team will put a game to bed for you not miss 1 on 1's.
