Real shame that Dowell won't make it - thought he had something.

....Dowell will already have enough riches for life, I wouldn’t say he ‘won’t make it’ from that perspective.

I’m a fan of the lad but he’s not grabbed his opportunities and failed to get game time on recent loans. It’s all about being effective on a football pitch and for some reason he’s not doing that.

This is the DCL thread and the big difference is that he has grasped opportunities when they arose.

...and yet garbage like Schneiderlin and Delph get a game regularly, and Tom Davies, who has no discernible talent to me, gets his game time too.

Dowell is better than all three of those.
He really isnt though. Dowell is far away from being able to play in any squad with ambitions higher than ‘escape league 2’.

Might be the fact police were called over him allegedly belting his pregnant partner.

Also, your “ultimate trier” seems to have turned down the chance to play regularly at Leeds, preferring instead to steal a living here.

Ever given thought to how hard DCL has tried? He’s been slated and played out of position under loads of managers yet got his head down, worked hard and improved.

Niasse has simply remained crap.

I agree with you completely about DCL...he works extremely hard and is scoring more now,I've always supported him. Re Oumar...is that the old news from a few years ago.if so the charges were dropped as there was no evidence. The list of footballers(and cricketers!) rightly or wrongly charged with assault is endless. It must be a pretty good percentage of footballers etc who have some sort of police record.Duncan, Peinnar, Pickford,Lukaku(in the US with Pogba), to name just a few connected with Everton.

"I'm hearing lots of names for England and you have to start throwing Dominic into the hat," said Everton captain Seamus Coleman.

"The only thing you could've said against him in the past was that he had to score more goals and this season he is doing that and answering the critics.

"He is working ever so hard for the team and he has stepped up another level."

Toffees boss Carlo Ancelotti was also quick to praise the young forward.

"Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been really fantastic," said the Italian. "He scores goals, which is important for him and for the squad. He is having good performances and was important."
