The reality is that DCL is everything most of his supporters have been saying for a year or so.... "a very good support striker" who whilst not being an aguero type striker.... will give us great options against certain teams. Massively important squad player.

We do need one more striker, someone like cavani on a free would be great ... take the load off the existing front 3 who are all under 22.

I don't think we need to kill it off completely. I certainly prefer a true 4-3-3 where the wingers have defensive responsibilities but by and large are staying high enough to be that support. But if Carlo for whatever reason says he likes the 4-2-3-1 it would be alright so long as the #10 isn't someone like Sigurdsson who should be supporting the striker but instead leaves him for dead 80% of the time. Honestly I think it was as much a personnel failure as a system failure.

Yes if we play that way, the best we have to play number 10 atm is Richarlison.

That was a really good goal. Un-fussy. He had an opening and he just calmly put the ball there.

11 in the league now, one behind Sterling, Salah, and Mane among others.

With DCL, Kean, Richarlison up front in some combo, if we can get a solid midfield (Bernard as playmaker???) this side could score a lot of goals. Not sure if I'd know what to do if we started banging them in.

The other though do it every season, that’s the challenge for DCL can he repeat it next season

Took his goal really well, I think he looks a little weak sometimes with his left leg but he didn't half finish that well last night.

Brands 100% left us light up top by not purchasing an experience player and a lot of responsibility has fell onto DCLs shoulders. If he can get through this season and get to about 15/16 goals, that'll be a great return and set him up for another push next season.

you are spot on that we were left light, but do you know what, this was either going to make Dom or break him, and i think we know which way it appears to be going, for all the kind of false dawns and short tern heartache of this season, its certainly been character building for the likes of young Dom and Mason

im glad DCL is finally getting the respect he deserves, hasnt been the most clinical since he joined, but hes always gave something to the team that we didnt have elsewhere even under all the different managers and different ways hes been told to play.

What are we gaining by playing Cavani and putting either Richarlison or DCL on the bench?

You do realize that at the moment this is not so easy to accomplish? Since we binned Silva he's been legitimately top class. Maybe it's a hot streak that ends, but we are at 2 months now.
